Taylor Swift & Calvin Harris’s Breakup Revealed: The Secret Collaboration That Ended Their Romance
After weeks of speculation as to why Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris suddenly called off their 15-month romance, new reports are claiming that the two split after Taylor felt “disrespected” over a secret collaboration.
A new report by TMZ is claiming that Swift actually secretly co-wrote Harris’s latest hit “This Is What You Came For” with the Scottish DJ, but felt disrespected by her then boyfriend after he slammed reports that the two could openly team up in the studio.
The site is putting forward the theory that Taylor wrote the song under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg and even claimed that Swift and Harris planned on releasing the huge dance hit together with Taylor providing the vocals that have since been taken over by Rihanna.
However, the duo allegedly mutually decided that releasing the song together would take the focus away from the hit, and so, Calvin opted to bring in Rihanna so their romance didn’t “overshadow” the song.
TMZ then went on to claim in the bombshell new report that things seriously broke down between the two after Calvin appeared on On Air With Ryan Seacrest to promote the song, where he publicly denied that he would ever collaborate with Taylor on new music.
“Will you do a collaboration with your girlfriend?” the former American Idol host asked Calvin on the radio show earlier this year, to which Harris responded, “You know we haven’t even spoken about it. I can’t see it happening though.”
According to the site, Calvin’s very public dismissal of hitting the studio with Swift was “the breaking point in the relationship” and allegedly made Taylor feel “hurt” and “disrespected.”
Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris are yet to officially confirm TMZ‘s latest report about their split, though rumors have been swirling for months that Taylor had a hand in the writing of “This Is What You Came For.”
As Seventeen reported last month, a slew of fans have been speculating that Swift ghost wrote the track after noticing a number of signs suggesting that Nils Sjoberg is actually Swift’s anonymous song writing moniker popped up online. The site claimed that Taylor was originally listed as a writer on the song’s Wikipedia entry and also revealed that there are no other notable traces of a Nils Sjoberg on the web.
A number of social media users also flocked to social media to put forward the theory upon the song’s release.
“@CalvinHarris confirm Nils Sjoberg on this is what you came for is Taylor Swift,” Twitter user @stephgolson wrote on the social media site at the time, “and I’ll leave you alone for the rest of my life.”
But as fans continue to speculate about the nature of Swift and Harris’s split, a source recently admitted to Page Six that Calvin has been left “hurt” by Taylor’s quick move on from their 15-month romance with actor Tom Hiddleston.
“He’s not happy about their relationship. He was hurt,” an insider told Page Six of how Calvin feels about Taylor and Tom’s whirlwind romance, adding that some of Harris’s inner circle feel as though Swift may have had an ulterior motive when it came to their relationship.
“Looking back, some friends do feel like Taylor’s team manipulated and orchestrated part of [their] relationship after seeing how public she is with her new guy,” the site’s insider admitted. “It makes sense.”
The source even claimed that Harris allegedly believes Swift and Hiddleston’s romance may be nothing other than a publicity stunt.
“I wouldn’t put it past her. That’s what they do,” the Calvin insider told Page Six this week. “It’s obvious.”
