‘Pokemon GO’ Inspires Poke-Porn Searches On Pornhub
Pornhub reported yesterday that the number of users surfing Pokemon-related porn since the release of Pokemon GO a week ago has gone through the roof.
Pokemon GO, the augmented reality mobile app that is free to play and allows for virtually infinite amounts of interactivity, has succeeded in breathing new life into a franchise that pretty much everyone thought had already seen its best days. Although Pokemon had generally been dismissed by popular culture as a children’s game since the “Pokemania” of the late 90s-early naughts died down, it has become typical to see men and women of all ages walking around and playing Pokemon GO on their phones since its release on July 6.
Being able to draw in fans of all ages is great for the Pokemon Company from a marketing standpoint, but it also means that the wholesome image the franchise represents were bound to intertwine with more mature themes sooner or later.
In this case, “sooner” means less than a week, as the demand for Pokemon-themed adult videos has already gone up exponentially.
Pornhub’s data shows that the massive trend began immediately after the game was released on the 6th, and it has continued to grow at an ever-faster rate since then.
And yes, there is a large amount of supply to meet this explosively growing demand. Pokemon GO did bring the franchise into the mainstream, but even before that, it boasted a huge following. Much of that following was too young to be interested in porn (or to produce it, at least), but a decent portion of it was also at an age where they had discovered the sensual pleasures the medium could provide. And what better way to enjoy them than to throw in a few of the Pokemon those fans know and love?Whether you agree with that philosophy or not, it seems as if the world has spoken. They demand more Pokemon… poking… man!
Even in countries where Pokemon GO has not been officially released yet, people are champing at the bit for erotic Pokemon vids. Especially in those countries, in fact; Pornhub dug deeper into its anonymous data and found that none of the three countries where Pokemon GO has been released — Australia, New Zealand, and the US — were ranked in the top 15 countries that searched for “Pokemon” on the site the most. Interestingly enough, though, the top 15 are all Latin American nations.
Not too surprisingly, the study found that men are significantly more likely to search for Pokemon porn than women — 62 percent more likely, to be exact. A bit harder to explain is the fact that Android users are much more likely (51 percent more) to watch their favorite Pokemon get down and dirty than are their iOS counterparts.xHamster, another major porn site, reported similar findings via Daily Dot. It noted that anime and hentai searches on its site had increased drastically since Pokemon GO took the world by storm.
If you’re wondering what Pokemon porn actually entails, well, you’ll have to do some exploring yourself. We can give you a small, not-too-explicit preview, though.
Last June, porn studio Wood Rocket produced a live-action Pokemon-themed porno called “Strokemon.” The parody swapped out Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu, the four heroes of the early Pokemon anime TV show, with Gash, Fisty, Cock, and Dickachu. Sexy hijinks ensue.
The fire Pokemon GO has whipped up is still burning brighter and brighter every day. Do you think the Pokemon Company and Nintendo can maintain their place in the spotlight, or is Pokemon GO a passing fad? Make yourself heard in the comments section below.
