AMC Releases Key Art And Images For ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Season 2B — Could Nick Be In Serious Trouble?
AMC has just released their key art for Fear The Walking Dead to be used at San Diego Comic Con later this month. Also included are two new images from the second half of Season 2.
SPOILER ALERT: This article discusses previous events in AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead as well as speculation on upcoming episodes. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.
The key art for Fear The Walking Dead will be on display throughout the length of the San Diego Comic Con which will run from Thursday, July 21, to Sunday, July 24, at the San Diego Convention Center. Released by AMC on their website, it is as ominous as it is beautiful with the infected fingers grasping at a real skull painted to represent a sugar skull. The catchphrase for the key art is “Death knows no borders.” The initial assumption could mean that Fear The Walking Dead will return to Mexico, indicated by the sugar skull representation. It could also indicate a return of Celia Flores (Marlene Forté) moving forward in the return of Season 2. Fans will remember Celia as the woman obsessed with the undead to the point of keeping them locked up in her compound. While it seemed she died in the mid-season finale of Fear The Walking Dead, perhaps she somehow escaped and this key artwork may be an indicator she will return. It also suggests, by way of the catchphrase, for the characters the discovery the whole world is infected could occur by the Season 2 finale. Along with the new key art for Comic Con are two new images taken from the second half of Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead. The first is fairly generic showing a large group of walkers. While this image seems like a throwaway one, fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead will know that images such as these usually end up being a fairly significant moment — even if the image does not initially seem so. What we can tell from the image is that the walkers are walking on a section of growth that appears flat but also looks similar to the landscape surrounding the second image. Could these two images somehow be connected? Alternatively, the ground is also reminiscent of the grass in the image below showing Travis (Cliff Curtis) and his son, Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie), suggesting maybe these two are in danger. Only by tuning into the return of Season 2 of Fear will reveal whether this image is important or not. As for the second image, it shows Nick walking along a deserted highway. He is alone, not a soul — living or undead — in sight. So how significant will this image turn out to be? Considering that the trailer for Episode 8 of Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead shows Nick shot and alone on a deserted highway just like this one, fans can only assume this image is from a time prior to that event. It could also indicate the two newly released images are actually related. After all, what happens if Nick is alone and injured on a deserted highway when a herd of the infected turn up? As yet, these new images give no indication as to who Fear newcomer, Danay Garcia, will be playing.Season 2 of AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead returns Sunday, August 21, with Episode 8 at 9 p.m. ET. Fans who can’t wait that long can check out the Fear The Walking Dead panel at San Diego Comic Con on Friday, July 22 in Hall H.
The official synopsis for the second half of Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead is below.
“As Fear The Walking Dead embarks on the second half of season two, the Clark, Manawa and Salazar families fracture. The events that took place at the Abigail compound have set all of our heroes adrift. Now they must forge their own paths to survive.”
