Kanye West Sells Out A Show That Never Happened

Kanye West is known for being one of the most high-profile rappers and also one of the most stylish individuals in the world right now. Recently, a surprise appearance by Kanye West backfired as the show in New York City went from an exciting last-minute happening to chaos in the blink of an eye.

Being the superstar that he is, Kanye West is no stranger to selling out shows. In the twist of fate that occurred recently, the show never happened because it was sold out and because it received too much publicity. According to ABC News, the police had to clear out thousands as chaos erupted from the Kanye West pop-up show.

It is estimated that 3,000 to 4,000 people swarmed Webster Hall, which has a capacity of 1,500 people, in Manhattan’s East Village for the pop-up show. Various Instagram posts showed the atmosphere in the vicinity of what was supposed to be Kanye West’s show and how claustrophobic it must have been considering the amount of people present in the area.

Kanye West had hinted on social media that he was going to do the show after his performance at the Governor’s Ball on nearby Randall’s Island Park was canceled due to inclement weather. Kanye West tweeted about the secret show and said that it was supposed to start at 2 a.m., and it was sold out by around 1 a.m.

Videos soon emerged on social media, showing crowds of people standing on cars, dumpsters, fire escapes, and even a post office truck, trying to get a glimpse of Kanye West. Just moments before 2 a.m. hit, Webster Hall tweeted that the Kanye West show would not happen because of the out-of-control crowds that had formed outside the site. At around 2:15 a.m., Kanye West briefly appeared outside Webster Hall and circled the block while waving through his sunroof to the myriad of supporters who were cheering, stopping to briefly shake hands with fans who had chased him down Third Avenue. Due to the commotion, Kanye West never emerged from the vehicle due to obvious security concerns, and he ended up leaving without performing. The police eventually stepped in and cleared the crowd soon after. One of the people who was present at the scene was later arrested for disorderly conduct.

A lot of buzz will be following Kanye for the foreseeable future as many fans are anticipating his upcoming album with excitement. Fans did get a bit of an early taste though as Kanye recently released the first single off his upcoming album. According to Time, Kanye West recently dropped a 6-minute track from his upcoming album, Cruel Winter.

Cruel Winter features Kanye West’s highly-anticipated collaborations with Gucci Mane and Big Sean. The rapper debuted the currently unnamed track on Big Boy’s 92.3 and told the radio host that the song has been in the works for over a year.

“I had the basic beat for a year and a half. It sounded right for this project. This is the hook we should have for the first single.”

The track was used by Kanye West to showcase the range of talent that fans can find on his G.O.O.D. Music label, which features artists like Big Sean and the newly signed Brooklyn rapper, Desiigner. Gucci Mane, Yo Gotti, Quavo, 2 Chainz, and Travi$ Scott also lend their talents to the song. Kanye West also revealed to Big Boy during the show that the track will be significantly longer on the album.
