Adam Carolla Trashes Democrats On Illegal Immigration

Adam Carolla is an outlier in the world of modern Hollywood.

Known traditionally as a liberal stronghold, the comedian and podcast superstar often takes contrarian positions to other celebrities and has carved a niche as a bit of a libertarian hero.

A self-proclaimed atheist, he isn’t quite ready for Republican party credentials either, but he does tend to side with the right when they call out left wing hypocrisy, and Friday’s Adam Carolla Show podcast was no exception.

Setting up his rant with a Bill Maher clip in which the liberal comedian called out his fellow Democrat friends for taking a soft line on Islam, Carolla applied the clip to Democrats on the topic of illegal immigration, stating that “it makes me wonder who you’re really looking out for.”

He continued.

“There’s that Kate’s Law thing where Kate Steinle was basically shot by an illegal who was a felon, brought back and forth five times and had a bunch of felonies and grabbed a gun and her family’s trying to pass this law that says, ‘Look, we’re not deporting people for selling oranges on the side of the street.’ The law is, ‘if you’re a felon and you’ve been back and forth five times, we’re getting you out of this country.'”

Adam Carolla then admonished those who would disagree with such a law stating that the country can’t have people who are violent felons returning to commit crimes.

Carolla’s anger toward Democrats stems from recent senatorial efforts to block Kate’s Law from passage — reported here by Fox News.

Democrats called it “anti-immigration rhetoric” and contested that the law “follow Trump’s lead in demonizing, criminalizing immigrant, Latino families,” according to Nevada Senator and Minority Leader Harry Reid.

It’s an argument that Adam Carolla wasn’t buying.

“We can’t have people who are violent felons. And I don’t know if it’s passed or not but the Democrats are like, ‘Nah, we’re not down with this.’ Now where are you? Who are you protecting? What do you really believe?”

Carolla had a hard time believing that anyone could oppose such a regulation and accused Democrats of playing to a specific voting constituency instead of following their beliefs.

“Is there a human being that you know that [believes] where you have someone coming through who is undocumented and a violent felon we’re [not] allowed to deport them? Who says no to that? Now we know you’re lying because we know you all agree with that, but you’re worried about a voting constituency.”

Adam Carolla went on to praise the Bill Maher clip in which he calls out a fellow Democrat for trying to say that Republicans believe homosexuality should be illegal as a means of diverting the attention away from the Orlando shooting, which was perpetrated by a radical Islamist.

Adam said that when people like Maher call out the “bulls**t” on their own side, it makes him take that person’s ideas and beliefs as a whole more seriously regardless of which side of the political aisle that they’re on.

Maher’s liberal past is well-documented, but he has become something of a Republican darling as of late for his fearlessness in calling out Islam, which he has referred to on past Real Time episodes as “the mother lode of bad ideas.”

As for Adam Carolla, his typical political positions skew left socially, but hard right economically.

He has also been a frequent critic of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, and is widely praised in independent and conservative circles for his takedown of California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom in a contentious interview from 2013.
