Christina Grimmie’s Family Thanks Her Fans For Their Support

It’s hard to believe it has already been almost one month since Christina Grimmie was tragically gunned down following a show in Orlando’s Plaza Live on June 10. As the one-month anniversary of Christina’s death draws closer, The Voice singer’s family has released a heartfelt message of thanks to her fans for their support in their time of loss.

The joint statement was released by Grimmie’s brother Marcus along with her parents, Tina and Bud, via a GoFundMe account on Wednesday, set up by Christina’s manager to support the family in their tragic loss. Initially set up to raise $4,000 to pay for her funeral, the account has since attracted more than $200,000 in donations.

The statement reads, “The outpouring of love and generosity that has been displayed to our family throughout these last few weeks has far exceeded anything we could have ever imagined.”

“As we have always known, Christina’s life was so very special, not only to us, but to everyone she touched with her joyful heart, beautiful voice and love for life and the Lord.”

The Grimmie family then goes on to thank everyone who honored their daughter’s memory with so many tributes and donations, saying, “Words cannot express what the many memorials, donations and tributes shared by Christina’s fans and those in the media and entertainment industry mean to us.”

“She will live on in our hearts forever. We will take our time in determining the best ways to honor Christina moving forward. Thank you.”

Christina Grimmie was shot by Kevin James Loibl, 27, while she signed autographs for fans following a show at Orlando’s Plaza Live concert venue on June 10. Christina was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, but she passed away shortly after arrival in the ER.

Turning out to be an obsessed fan, Loibl then fatally shot himself after Grimmie’s brother, Marcus, tackled him.

As reported by E! News, the message from her family comes on the heels of learning that Christina has been nominated for #ChoiceMusicWebStar for the Teen Choice Awards this year. A source close to the family said, “She has always wanted to win one, she has been nominated before.”

The GoFundMe account was opened by LH7 Management, a company led by Christina’s manager, Brian Teefey, who is also Selena Gomez’s stepfather. It was created to help the family of the murdered 22-year-old singer in their time of need.

Teefey originally wrote on the GoFundMe page, “As family Mother, Father, and Brother made the ultimate family sacrifice to support Christina on her musical journey. They did nothing but love her and support her as family the best they knew how, the only worry I want them to have at this point is that of recovery.”

What began with a goal of $4,000 to help pay for funeral costs, the GoFundMe account has attracted donations of more than $200,000 and will be closed on July 10, one month after Christina’s death.
