Emma Watson Puts ‘The Colony’ Behind Her With Boyfriend, Wimbledon And Feminism

Emma Watson is emerging from her child actress roles, but that doesn’t mean that the road to adulthood will be smooth for her. Her latest movie, The Colony, only made £47 in ticket sales in the U.K., which has to be her all-time low.

But that doesn’t mean that the English actress is getting depressed all by herself. She is continuing to work, enjoy life, make time to go see matches at this year’s Wimbledon, put time and effort into feminism, and also possibly in her relationship with her boyfriend, William Mack Knight.

That still doesn’t mean that the fact that The Colony did so badly in the box office this weekend will change.

“She’s the star of one of the most successful film franchises in the world,” reports Daily Mail. “However, not everything Emma Watson touches turns to gold after her latest movie made just £47 in ticket sales. The Harry Potter star’s new film The Colony (Colonia) took meagre takings when it opened in just three U.K. cinemas last Friday.”

One of the reason why the film’s box office performance was so poor was because The Colony “has been largely distributed by being streamed online, with only a select number of cinemas chosen to screen it,” according to the same article.

Now that the movie has been released, she is free to dedicate her time and thoughts in other things. She still is the UN ambassador for women’s rights issues, and she is not easing up on her stance that men should support feminism more.

She most recently retweeted something that Prince William said about working towards gender equality.

She also has been putting in some time at the courtside seats at this year’s Wimbledon.

Beginning of this year, she made it clear to her fans that she is taking this year off to do the things she likes to do so it looks like she is making that dream come true.

“I’m taking a year away from acting to focus on two things, really,” Emma said according to Entertainment Weekly. “My own personal development is one. I know that you read a book a day. My own personal task is to read a book a week, and also to read a book a month as part of my book club. I’m doing a huge amount of reading and study just on my own.”

Part of that dream could be to spend more time with her fledgeling relationship with her entrepreneur boyfriend. The last time that they were seen together, they were shopping in New York, one of her favorite cities.

“Emma Watson looked like she’d already found her Prince Charming as she stepped out for breakfast with her boyfriend William Mack Knight in New York on Monday,” reports Daily Mail. “Clad in a tan leather jacket, the 26-year-old actress looked effortlessly chic on the outing as she strolled through the streets.”

She also is continuing to remind people that she is no longer the child star from Harry Potter series by pointing out that the media is unnecessarily sexualizing her.

“Yes, three and half seconds of nude pictures which were not particularly risqué,” she said about her work in The Colony to the Times. “It’s deeply irritating. I’m 26 now. I’ve been in 15 films in total and me kissing somebody else shouldn’t be risqué or horrifying, but I think that will continue for a long time. There have been lots of advantages to being part of that franchise [Harry Potter], and playing that role for a long time, but inevitably there are obstacles and that’s one of them.”
