‘Thor 2’ Set Images Tease Epic Battles, Jaimie Alexander On Horseback
New images from the set of director Alan Taylor’s Thor: The Dark World have made their way online. Although stars Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston are nowhere to be found in the batch of photographs, the images are still quite intriguing. Not only do they give fans an opportunity to glimpse the movie’s epic battle sequences, it also gives Jaimie Alexander fans a chance to see the lovely young woman on horseback.
According to Cinema Blend, Alexander will reprise her role as the warrior Sif in the upcoming sequel. The latest images show Alexander riding into battle, an ornate sword in-hand. Other images show soldiers torching a village, a scene which apparently utilizes more than a handful of extras in full costume.
If anyone can handle this sort of epic action sequence, it’s Alan Taylor. Not only has the director done time on such television programs as Rome and Deadwood, Taylor has also directed numerous episodes of the hit HBO series Game of Thrones. In fact, if you didn’t know that the new images were from Thor: The Dark World, you might mistake these pictures as something snapped on the set of Thrones.
According to The Examiner, the the latest collection of behind-the-scenes images depict a very intense battle between the Asgardian army and a group of nefarious individuals known as Marauders. The aforementioned battle is reportedly being waged in a land located in another dimension. Sine Thor’s origin story has been established, the next entry appears to be much more action packed.
Also returning for the next installment of the Thor franchise are Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Rene Russo, and Stellan Skarsgard. Veteran actor and Dr. Who alumnus Christopher Eccleston will also join the cast this time around, portraying a dark and sinister character known as Malekith.
