‘The Originals’ Season 4 Teasers Suggest Death Isn’t The End Of The Story
Warning: This article may contain spoilers for The Originals.
When it comes to The Originals, death and suffering is par for the course, but the CW series, which is a spin-off from The Vampire Diaries, does such a good job of delivering in-depth characterization that the sense of loss among fans is rarely, if ever, dulled. That’s particularly true of the Season 3 finale, when The Originals dealt a severe blow to fans with the multiple deaths of some of the show’s most beloved characters. While certain losses can never be reversed, The Originals‘ stars reveal that some of the fans’ most favorite characters may find new life in Season 4.
The Originals‘ Claire Holt Teases The Return Of Rebekah Mikaelson
Rebekah is one Mikaelson sibling we haven’t seen nearly enough of through the past three seasons with Claire Holt being most noticeably absent in Season 3 than in the previous two installments of The Originals, according to Design & Trend. Holt is now hinting that she may be back for Season 4. While it seems unlikely that Claire will join The Originals full time, as she has expressed preferring to spend more time at her Australian home, it does sound as though The Originals actress is missing her on-screen family, as well.
Claire says she’s open to reprising her role as Rebekah Mikaelson for Season 4 of The Originals, implying that, while she hasn’t yet been recast in the role, the possibility of her return may yet become a fact.
“We sort of left it open ended at the end of last season,” Holt said, referring to The Originals finale with Rebekah returning to help stop Marcel. “If all goes to plan, Rebekah will be back.”
While she may not have been a steady character in the past, Holt says she’s very fond of her co-stars on The Originals and looks forward to working with them all at any opportunity. Claire says it will break her heart when she has to walk away from The Originals.
The Originals Actress Danielle Campbell Says Davina May Be Dead, But She’s Not Gone
Another loss and one which at first seemed much more permanent was the death of Davina Claire (Danielle Campbell), reports Entertainment Weekly. The loss of Davina was the price the Mikaelson family paid to attempt to save one of their own and, while their plan failed, that didn’t spare the city’s most powerful witch. Instead, Davina was lost and those who once acted as allies began aligning themselves against the Mikaelson family in a plot for vengeance. Even as battle lines are being drawn, suggesting Season 4 of The Originals may be its bloodiest yet, Campbell provides hope that we haven’t yet seen the last of Davina Claire.
“Davina has won the hearts of quite a few of the characters, so they’re going to do their best to bring her back,” The Originals‘ Danielle Campbell says, adding, “But nothing on this show’s easy so I’m guessing there’s going to be some setbacks along the way.”
Speaking of The Originals‘ third season, Campbell says she’s proud to have played such an empowering character and adds that her favorite scenes involved situations where Davina was able to rebel against Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies). The Originals is all about family, but not necessarily always about the Mikaelson family, which is something Davina is coming to realize as much as the Mikaelsons.
Even before her death, Danielle says her character on The Originals had made peace with Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) because she recognizes that he is her family, when it comes right down to it. Similarly, Davina has forgiven Kol Mikaelson (Nathaniel Buzolic), because she knows he wouldn’t have attacked her if the choice had been his to make.
