Harry Potter Vs. Frodo Baggins: Daniel Radcliffe Wants To Face Elijah Wood In A Boxing Match

Two of the greatest book series and film franchises in history are Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings. While they are their own worlds and separate universes, some have often wondered what would happen if they ever crossed paths. That really isn’t likely to happen in anyone’s lifetime, but someone rather important would love to see it take place. Yes, Daniel Radcliffe wants to see Harry Potter take on Frodo (Elijah Wood) in a boxing match.

The idea first came up back in 2014 and it was originated by Tim League, the founder and CEO of the Alamo Drafthouse. He decided to pit movies starring Daniel Radcliffe up against movies starring Daniel Radcliffe at Fantastic Fest.

Fantastic Fest put together this “Fantastic Debate,” which is something that normally takes place inside a boxing ring and has an awesome debate take place. Once they verbally spar it out, the two put on boxing gloves and physically battle to determine who the ultimate winner would be.

That’s where a fight consisting Harry Potter vs. Frodo Baggins actually has some possibility of actually happening.

Back in 2014, Elijah Wood was asked about the possibility by Past Magazine, and he wasn’t totally against it. All he said is that you never know what could happen and that “it might happen one year.” But, when would that be possible?

Once Wood had kind of stepped one foot in the ring, Daniel Radcliffe’s people reportedly said “h*** no” when confronted with the challenge.

Well, it’s been 2 years, and that may have changed. Yahoo caught up with Radcliffe during the press tour for his new film Swiss Army Man, and the boxing match isn’t totally out of the question.

“Here’s the thing, I should say no, but the competitive part of me is finding it really hard to not just say, Yeah, I think I would beat Elijah Wood in a boxing match. But we’ll see. You set it up. I’ve met him, he’s a very nice man — who am I kidding…I’d love it!”

Yes, Harry Potter just accepted the challenge to have a boxing match with Frodo Baggins.

Right now, Radcliffe is putting all of his focus into promoting Swiss Army Man, and he’s hoping everyone will go see it. As for the possible fight between him and Elijah Wood, he’s not going to just let it die. That was why he sent this response to Business Insider to keep hope alive.

“Who would prevail in said matchup is one of the most epic and heated debates of the modern era. We owe it to the fan community to settle this once and for all. I am hereby extending a formal invitation to both Elijah Wood and Daniel Radcliffe to compete in a clean, fair boxing exhibition at this year’s Fantastic Fest. Let the record be set straight once and for all this September. In the meantime, everyone should watch ‘Swiss Army Man.’ It really is the best movie of the year so far!”

There are so many different fantasy fights the fans would love to see over time, but it’s next to impossible to ever have them actually take place. Knowing that Harry Potter vs. Frodo Baggins or Daniel Radcliffe vs. Elijah Wood could maybe happen is something that would get fans around the world in an excited uproar.

One has to wonder about two things when it comes to the idea of a Harry Potter vs. Frodo boxing match. The first is if it would be fantasy and Harry would be allowed to use his magic while Frodo can summon up some incredible things of his own. On the other hand, would it be a straight-up boxing match between Daniel Radcliffe and Elijah Wood? While the first option isn’t really ever possible unless on the big screen, maybe one day, the latter fight could take place.
