Kevin McKidd Of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Facing Divorce From Wife Jane
After almost 17 years of marriage, Grey’s Anatomy star Kevin McKidd and his wife Jane are about to split. The marriage between the hunky red-haired on-screen doctor and his wife Jane is over, according to a representative for Kevin.
McKidd, 42, plays Dr. Owen Hunt on the popular show Grey’s Anatomy and shares two children with his wife Jane – a son Joseph, 16, and a daughter Iona, 14. The actor’s rep said in a statement to E! News Saturday, “Kevin and Jane have jointly decided to end their marriage.”
Speaking on behalf of the couple, the rep continued by saying: “They look forward to continuing to co-parent their children, who have been their top priority, and will to continue to enjoy a close and caring relationship.”
According to TMZ, Kevin and Jane split last October and Jane recently filed papers for a divorce, just weeks prior to their 17th anniversary. Jane is reportedly asking for joint custody of their children, along with spousal support from Kevin.

McKidd and his family currently live in Los Angeles, but the actor was born in Scotland and became an American citizen last year. Reportedly, Jane and the kids accompanied him to the swearing in ceremony in California.

For any ladies who fancy seeing Kevin in a genuine Scottish kilt, here’s a wee treat.
Besides his role in Grey’s Anatomy, McKidd is also well known for playing the role of Tommy in the 1996 movie Trainspotting. While the McKidds are splitting up, their onscreen alter egos, the Hunts, are doing just fine. Melty recently interviewed Kevin to ask what is in store for his character Owen and Amelia in Season 13 of Grey’s Anatomy.
The last episode of Season 12 was nerve-wracking and almost heartrending, when Amelia, Meredith and Maggie all ran away from the church. However, despite all the drama, the onscreen couple did finally get married.
Melty interviewed Kevin at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival to try and get some spoilers for Season 13 and Owen and Amelia’s future together.

When McKidd was asked if the couple will get their “happily ever after,” Kevin said, “I hope so! Owen went through a lot with Christina. She didn’t want to give him a baby, they had a lot of struggles, and then she left essentially. So I think he deserves to be happy, don’t you?”
He wasn’t giving out much info on Season 13, however, saying he knows nothing of the future script. According to Kevin McKidd, the writers are still sitting in the writers’ room, conjuring up new story lines, so the stars of the show are pretty much in the dark for now.
Speaking of Shonda Rhimes and her incredible success with Grey’s Anatomy, Kevin said, “She seems to have her finger on the pulse of what fans really want to see. It’s like a sixth sense or inner voice where she trusts her own instincts and does things sometimes where you think, ‘Amelia and Owen getting married it seems rushed,’ and all these things that happen, but usually her instincts are always dead on and they make for great television. She listens to her instincts more than anyone I know that works in TV, and she trusts her instincts.”
On that note, we’ll all pretty much have to wait and see what the future holds for Owen and Amelia and the rest of the cast on Grey’s Anatomy, when it returns to ABC on Thursday, September 22.
