‘The Vampire Diaries’: Everything Known So Far About Season 8 [Spoilers]
It will be a few months before The Vampire Diaries Season 8 premieres on The CW network. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t TVD spoilers available. Find out everything that is known so far about Damon, Enzo, Bonnie, Stefan, Caroline, Alaric, and more.
Warning: The Vampire Diaries Season 8 spoilers are ahead.
As fans of The Vampire Diaries know, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) are on a murdering spree along the west coast. The two TVD characters were affected by the creature inside the Vault. However the identity of the monster is not known. As previously speculated by the Inquisitr, a new character by the name of Sybil sounds like she shares certain characteristics with the Season 8 villain.
Executive producer Julie Plec teased to TV Line what she was willing to share about The Vampire Diaries Season 8 creature. It does have a name, but that is being kept under wraps. It has been alive for thousands of years and has freakishly long fingers. Fans saw a glimpse of this when the monster put its hands on Damon Salvatore’s shoulder in the Vault. It can get inside one’s head and must have some psychic abilities. The creature was able to know that Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) was important to Damon and could even mimic her voice perfectly.

During Season 7 of The Vampire Diaries, it was also revealed that the monster inside the Vault doesn’t necessarily possess a person, but takes everything good away from its victim. It only leaves behind the negative traits, making typically good people turn completely evil without any remorse. It also affects humans and supernatural creatures, such as vampires.
As for the characters of The Vampire Diaries, what is in store for them in Season 8? They are all going to be searching for Damon and Enzo. Based on the TVD casting news that Kristen Gutoskie will be playing a nanny, it sounds like Alaric (Matt Davis) might be included. The Gemini twins will need looking after if Alaric will be joining Caroline, Bonnie, and Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) in the search for Damon and Enzo.
Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) is going to be “paralyzed” by what has happened to Damon and Enzo in The Vampire Diaries Season 8. Even though guilt would be a natural response, Plec said Bonnie shouldn’t feel guilty at all. It wasn’t her fault that the creature affected Damon and Enzo, but that won’t make it any easier for the TVD character. Fans also need to remember that in addition to losing the two men who mean the most to her, Bonnie also does not have her magic anymore.

“She has two men in her life — Damon, who’s a platonic, but also deep, soulful best friend, and Enzo, who has really become her one true love — and she lost both of them in one fell swoop,” Julie Plec told TV Line regarding Bonnie’s storyline. “In addition to that, she also lost her magic. She’s starting at an absolute deficit in terms of being able to fix this problem. That’s going to have a great impact on her.”
As for Caroline and Stefan, known to fans as “Steroline,” the couple may have some happy moments, at least in the beginning of Season 8. However, Candice King hinted to IGN that the couple will still face some obstacles in The Vampire Diaries.
For those wondering if Matt (Zach Roerig) is gone for good on The Vampire Diaries, TV Guide got the answer from writer Brian Young.
“Matt’s going to take some time,” Brian Young told TV Guide. “It was rough for him…. He’s the only human character left. And as the show becomes more supernatural, the journey we wanted to tell with him was his feeling like he doesn’t necessarily belong anymore. If and when he comes back in Season 8 — he’ll be back eventually in Season 8 — we’ll have to see what form that takes and what journey he’s gone on and how that’s changed him.”
It was also revealed that The Vampire Diaries Season 8 is going to be darker and twisted. Paul Wesley teased this little fact a few months ago. Also, Stefan truly believes that Damon is still inside his body somewhere. Stefan most likely needs to believe this in order to keep going on in his search for Damon Salvatore.
