‘Arrow’ Bringing Stephen Amell’s Wrestling Enemy Cody Rhodes In For Guest Star Appearance In Season 5
Last year at WWE SummerSlam, Stephen Amell stepped out from behind the safety of the security barricade and into the wrestling ring. He teamed with Neville to face off with King Barrett and his arch-enemy Stardust aka Cody Rhodes. Well, even though Rhodes is no longer with WWE, they haven’t seen the last of one another. It has been confirmed they will face off once again, but this time in Amell’s world for Season 5 of Arrow on The CW.
Yes, they faced off in the world of wrestling, and it proved to be overly successful for Amell. Now, it’s going to be Rhodes’ turn to see if he can best the vigilante in the world of comic book television.
ComicBook reported that Stephen Amell made a very interesting and unexpected announcement at the Heroes & Villains Fanfest in New Jersey on Saturday. During the fest, Amell was on Facebook live when he dropped the bombshell that Rhodes would be appearing in the upcoming fifth season of Arrow.
As of now, it is not known what role Rhodes will take on the show, but it is thought that the two will face off yet again. That all but says that Oliver Queen will have a new villain to fend off this season.“Before we get going, we have an announcement. We have a new guest star on Arrow this year: Mr. Cody Rhodes. I’m so fired up for this guy; he and I haven’t really had much of a chance to talk about it but we’ve been friends for a little over a year now. I know that Cody has really wanted to get into the acting business. He went to LA, he read for a part, and his deal closed yesterday and the dude is going to be on Arrow and I’m so fired up.”
It’s rather interesting that they were able to keep this such a secret, but it also seems like something that just happened out of nowhere and recently.
Last year, Rhodes and Amell began having a rather vicious back-and-forth on Twitter with the former staying in character as Stardust. Finally, Amell showed up at WWE events here and there, and it led to him taunting Rhodes, and sometimes, they even got physical.
Finally, it led to a tag team match at SummerSlam which eventually ended with Neville pinning King Barrett to get the win for his team with Amell. This was not a safeguarded match either as the Arrow star really got into his role in the ring.
In May, Rhodes did part ways with WWE and he is now out there on his own and doing things as he pleases. That now seems to include getting further into the comic book universe by making this awesome guest star appearance.Superhero Hype said that they are waiting on details on the role that Rhodes will have, but the former WWE star did tease things a bit. He said, “You can probably expect Stephen to get into another fight,” and that seems to confirm a villainous role is in his future.
I step into this respectfully, humbly, and looking to do it justice for the fandom #HVFF @CW_Arrow pic.twitter.com/UbU0lzG4df

Season 5 of Arrow is really turning into something huge with Rick Gonzalez joining the cast as Wild Dog, Madison McLaughlin as Evelyn Sharp, Chad L. Coleman as Tobias Church, and a host of others. That’s not even mentioning the confirmed mega-crossover event with The Flash, Supergirl, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
Cody Rhodes has certainly found himself a lot of work since parting ways with WWE, and he’s already lined up plenty of wrestling gigs elsewhere. Now, he’s going to head into the world of acting and see how he does with it, but will it work? Stephen Amell and Rhodes are obviously quite close and it’s going to be great seeing them face off in another arena for Season 5 of Arrow.
