‘Star Wars’ News: The Return Of Darth Vader In ‘Rogue One’
Star Wars is a universe and a franchise that Darth Vader built way back in the late 1970s. But the evil man has long since been absent from the franchise movies since Return of the Jedi back in 1983, excluding his brief stint at the end of Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. But now, Darth Vader is back and he is young and powerful in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The return of Darth Vader is something that Star Wars fans have been waiting a long time to see. Although they got just a sliver of his presence in Revenge of the Sith, the fandom is about to get the true return of the Sith Lord Darth Vader with his dominating presence in the new Star Wars spinoff film, Rogue One.

It is not enough just to simply have another prequel film, or even a series of films. In order for a spinoff of the Star Wars franchise to truly be successful, the return of Darth Vader was a must, according to Entertainment Weekly.
When fans last saw Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi, the Sith lord was winding down his best days, briefly approaching the horizon of his final days where his son, Luke Skywalker, was destined to take his place at the evil Emperor’s side as the galactic ruler. As an evil Sith lord, Darth Vader had such extreme power and strength that he was able to squash the galactic senate and help the emperor establish a new reign in the galaxy that would oppress all living life forms on every planet.
The events of Rogue One are a prequel, of sorts. Although they take place just before the events of the Star Wars: A New Hope, they are still the story of an event that was only spoken about in that film. That was an event that Darth Vader himself was intimately involved with and that was where the movie opened up.

Rogue One is about the crew of rogue fighters that conspired and executed a plan to carry out one of the most daring and bold missions against the evil empire ever constructed. But as everyone knows, the characters in that spinoff event do not turn out so lucky, which was only slightly referenced to in the original Star Wars.
Fans of the original Star Wars that have been waiting a long time to see Darth Vader again will not only get the evil Sith lord himself, but he will once again be voiced by the original voice actor, James Earl Jones.

All news reports indicate that Rogue One is simply a standalone film that fits into the Star Wars universe and adheres to the canon, but does not come with a sequence of other films.
But there will indeed be a series of standalone films that are also considered spinoffs of the original Star Wars canon that will be making their way to theaters over the next several years, which includes a planned prequel about young Han Solo.

If you are a true Star Wars fan and want to see Darth Vader one last time before his legend dies out for another 30 years, then Rogue One may just be your last opportunity to do that in this lifetime. Unless some of the other spinoff films feature Darth Vader in some capacity, although there has been no word that they will, Darth Vader could be approaching his final days on-screen before a new generation picks him up over the decades to come.
