Ian Somerhalder And Nikki Reed Headed For A Split? Nina Dobrev’s Return To ‘The Vampire Diaries’ To Blame
Ian Somerhalder might be having second thoughts about his marriage with Nikki Reed.
The Vampire Diaries star is gearing up for his final season on the hit show. Will Nina Dobrev’s return create a rift between Somerhalder and Reed?
According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Dobrev’s return in Season 8 of The Vampire Diaries is not sitting well with Reed.
The fact that Somerhalder and Dobrev might work together for days on end has stressed Reed to the point of breaking.
Somerhalder and Dobrev first hooked up while working together on The Vampire Diaries. After they ended their relationship, Dobrev parted ways with the series while Somerhalder eventually married Reed.
International Business Times reports that Somerhalder and Dobrev dated for three years. They remained friends after the split and continued to communicate with each other.
However, their friendship quickly ended after Somerhalder’s engagement to Reed. Apparently, there was bad blood between Reed and Dobrev, who used to be good friends.
Ever since their dramatic breakup, fans have hoped that Somerhalder and Dobrev would reunite. With the final season of The Vampire Diaries now upon us, there is a strong possibility that they will at least unite on screen.
According to Parent Herald, Dobrev could return to The Vampire Diaries as either Elena or Katherine, depending on how the season develops.
While Dobrev’s return hasn’t been confirmed, executive producer Julie Plec has stated in the past that she wants to include Dobrev in the series finale.
Whether or not this means Dobrev will come back as a vampire or a human is yet to be seen. Either way, her character’s storyline was left open for a possible return.
That being said, it isn’t known if Season 8 will be the show’s final season.
Considering how the upcoming season will be Ian Somerhalder’s last, however, there is a good chance that The Vampire Diaries will wrap up with his departure.
Bringing Dobrev back, even if the show doesn’t end next season, is a smart move. After all, the series has suffered in ratings ever since the actress left.
Indeed, even the hint of Dobrev’s return has sparked a renewed interest in the hit show. If she does make several cameos in Season 8, then fans that stopped watching will likely return.
Meanwhile, it’s unclear if Somerhalder and Reed are actually having problems in the marriage. On the outside, their relationship appears stronger than ever.
Of course, things could be drastically different behind the scenes.
According to Christian News Today, Somerhalder’s marriage with Reed has been difficult since the start.
In fact, Somerhalder has yet to have any children with the former Twilight star, despite his desire to start a family of his own. Is this a sign of problems beneath the surface?
It is thought that Somerhalder’s romance with Dobrev ended because she didn’t want to have kids. If Reed feels the same way, then her future with Somerhalder could be in jeopardy.
Somerhalder has been married to Reed for 16 months now.
In the end, only time will tell if Somerhalder can work with Dobrev without ruining his marriage.
The new season of The Vampire Diaries is scheduled to premiere this coming fall on The CW.
