Are Banks Closed Fourth Of July 2016? Some Banks Open, Check This List For July 4 Holiday Banking Hours
Wondering if your bank is open on the Fourth of July? Monday is a federal holiday and that typically means that most banks and credit unions will be closed. However, there are a few major banks that will be open on July 4, so check the list of banks below and see if yours is on the list.
The Federal Reserve Bank shuts down on the 4th of July holiday, along with a long list of other government and state agencies including the U.S. Postal Service, the Internal Revenue Service, Social Security, state and federal courts, and the Department of Motor Vehicles.

According to Saving Advice, many retail stores — including Walmart, Target, and Best Buy — restaurants, malls, and supermarkets will be open throughout the three-day holiday weekend, but it will be hit or miss with banks and credit unions on July 4. Depending on which banking institution you use, you may need to use an ATM to get cash or make a deposit and your mobile banking app on your smartphone to make a transfer or bill payment.
TD Bank, primarily located in the Northeast, is open four out of the 10 federal holidays each year. Unfortunately, Independence Day isn’t on the list, but for future reference, TD Bank is open regular business hours on Martin Luther King Day, Presidents’ Day, Columbus Day, and Veterans Day.
Large financial institutions including U.S. Bank, Bank of America, Chase Bank, and Wells Fargo will be closed all day on the Fourth of July, but according to Go Banking Rates, you may find at least two banks — select branches only — that are operating on a holiday schedule on Monday.

If you can’t wait until Tuesday to do your banking and don’t want to use the ATM or mobile app and you bank with SunTrust or PNC bank, you may be in luck. Some branches located inside grocery stores may be open on Monday, but Go Banking Rates states that you should check with your local branch to verify their holiday hours.
“PNC Bank might keep select branches open on the Fourth. Visit PNC Bank’s website to verify holidays observed by your local branch. U.S. Bank confirmed that some regular branches might open on Saturday, while in-store branches will generally remain open. U.S. Bank customers should check with their branches to verify Fourth of July hours.”
Here’s the list of major U.S. banks that will be closed on the Fourth of July. Although this list does not include private and federal credit unions, these institutions generally follow the Federal Reserve Bank operating hours on federal holidays, so you can expect them to be closed for business on Monday. All in-store branches will also be closed on Monday, July 4, other than the two banks noted above.
