AMC Sneaks A New ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Cast Member Into Its San Diego Comic Con 2016 Announcement
With San Diego Comic Con 2016 only weeks away, the lineup is beginning to be revealed. While fans always assumed AMC’s The Walking Dead and its companion show Fear The Walking Dead would be there, it is always reassuring when the official announcement is made. However, AMC managed to sneak in a surprise as well with a new cast member announced.
San Diego Comic Con will run from Thursday, July 21, to Sunday, July 24, at the San Diego Convention Center with a special review night on Wednesday, July 20. Fans can already get their hands on exclusives via the Comic Con website. If you want to pre-order your SDCC 2016 T-shirt, you have until Wednesday to do so. To order a T-shirt you must be attending San Diego Comic Con and the shirt must be picked up from SDCC before the end of the event as there is no mail services available for this item. Clicking on each company name will reveal the exclusive deals already available.
But it is The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead that you came here for, wasn’t it? According to Deadline, AMC has revealed the cast from both shows who will be attending San Diego Comic Con 2016.
Fear The Walking Dead will appear for the second year running in Hall H on Friday, July 22. The panel will run from 12.00-1.00 p.m. The lineup for the Fear The Walking Dead panel is as follows: Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Frank Dillane, Lorenzo James Henrie, Mercedes Mason, Colman Domingo, and Danay Garcia. Also included in the panel is executive producer and showrunner David Erickson, as well as executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, and Dave Alpert.
Did you notice an unfamiliar name in there? As yet there has been no official announcement on Fear newcomer Danay Garcia. Her IMDb account does not even list Fear as one of her credits yet. It will be interesting to see who she plays in Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead when it returns. Previously, Danay Garcia had a long-term stint as Sofia Lugo in Prison Break as well as short-term parts in shows such as Supernatural and CSI: NY.
The Walking Dead panel will follow directly after the Fear The Walking Dead panel from 1.00-2.00 p.m. on Friday, July 22 in Hall H. Deadline has listed the following cast members as attending: Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Chandler Riggs, Michael Cudlitz, Sonequa Martin-Green, Christian Serratos, Ross Marquand, and Josh McDermitt.
Yes, that is everyone included in Negan’s lineup in the Season 6 finale cliffhanger, with one notable exception: Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the actor who plays Negan. It will be very interesting to see just what these actors have to say about Season 7 of The Walking Dead without giving anything away. It is a very bold move on AMC’s behalf considering at least one of these actors will likely have to lie about their upcoming role in The Walking Dead or risk giving away their fate with answers that are too vague.
Also attending The Walking Dead panel will be executive producer and showrunner Scott M. Gimple; executive producer Robert Kirkman; executive producer Gale Anne Hurd; executive producer, director, and special effects make-up supervisor Greg Nicotero; and executive producer David Alpert.
Both panels will be hosted by Chris Hardwick who fans will know from AMC’s Talking Dead program that airs after both Fear The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead.
Other Walking Dead events during San Diego Comic Con 2016 include autograph sessions, a Fear The Walking Dead yacht event, and a chance for Walking Dead fans to get a photo with Negan’s lineup.
Also included in the AMC line up for San Diego Comic Con 2016 is their new drama, Preacher, and a sneak peek at Kevin Smith’s new late night talk show, Geeking Out.
