Chris Brown Says ‘Welcome To My Life’ Documentary And ‘Grass Ain’t Greener’ Music Video ‘Coming Soon’
Chris Brown may be fresh off of the European leg for his “One Hell of a Nite Tour,” which concluded last weekend with a show-stopping performance in Napoli, Italy, but it doesn’t appear that Brown has any intention of slowing down when it comes to releasing new material for eager fans.
On Thursday, Chris Brown took to Instagram to give fans a much-desired update on the status of his various impending projects, which includes a new mixtape titled Attack the Block from OHB/Section Boyz, a new music video for his recently released single, “Grass Ain’t Greener,” and an update regarding the arrival of his controversial documentary, Welcome to My Life.
While Brown neglected to offer a firm release date for the projects, the “Loyal” singer did promise fans that he is working tirelessly to put the finishing touches on his “Grass Ain’t Greener” music video in addition to working alongside Riveting Entertainment to continue filming for Welcome to My Life, which was previously rumored to drop shortly after the conclusion of Chris Brown’s “One Hell of a Nite Tour.”
“Y’all gone like the video,” Chris Brown began in an Instagram post concerning the arrival of his “Grass Ain’t Greener” music video.
“BEEN WORKING MY A** OFF, shooting the rest of the video SUPER SOON, the day we wrap IM RUSHING TO THE EDITING ROOM. I know y’all waiting patiently TEAM BREEZY. BARE WIT ME!! REQUEST AND DOWNLOAD ON ITUNES AND STREAM THIS SONG,” Brown continued before adding the hashtag #GRASSAINTGREENER.
Similarly, Chris Brown seemingly addressed rumors of a surprise release for his Welcome to My Life documentary on Instagram by noting that the project is “coming soon,” albeit neglecting to offer a status update or firm release date for the highly anticipated project.
According to Riveting Entertainment’s official website for the impending documentary, Welcome to My Life’s release date is still listed as “TBD,” however, production notes for the film on IMDb suggest that the film is in post-production as of March 28.
While there is currently little information available about the documentary, several celebrities have been confirmed as part of the film’s star-studded cast, including appearances from Usher, DJ Khaled, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, Rita Ora, Jamie Foxx, and Mike Tyson. In addition, the film, directed by Andrew Sandler, is said to examine the rise of Brown’s career and subsequent impact of his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna with the tagline, “America’s sweetheart to public enemy No. 1,” Billboard reports.
Chris Brown unveiled the official trailer for the project back in April, which features snippets of interviews with several members of the documentary’s VIP cast, in addition to an emotional recount of the impact that his 2009 pre-Grammy assault on Rihanna had on his budding musical career.
“Like real-life rock stars,” Brown explains of his then-romance with the “Diamonds” singer. “It was like a fantasy. I went from being on top of the world, number one songs and kinda being like America’s sweetheart to being public enemy number one. I felt like a monster.”
Chris Brown’s mom, Joyce Hawkins, also makes an appearance in the documentary’s trailer in which she admits that the incident was “the worst day of my life and probably of [Chris’] life,” before noting, “I felt like I was going to lose my child.”
While fans have been adamant about showing their support for Brown in the wake of the controversial documentary, the film has also been met with criticism and backlash from the media concerning Brown’s decision to address his domestic violence incident with Rihanna.
