Fans of Alaskan Bush People have weathered the scandals one wave at a time, but the next one might prove to be a bit too much. That’s why there’s a chance Alaskan Bush People could forgo airing the alleged Ami Brown family union altogether.

The speculation comes by way of an observation made by Alaska Dispatch-News writer Emily Fehrenbacher. Members of Alaskan Bush People star Ami Brown’s family went to Alaska to find her, including Ami’s ailing 89-year-old mother. The group reportedly set out on their journey from Texas to Alaska on June 28. Multiple sources have reported about a planned reunion that is expected to happen on-camera.
The problem with an on-camera meeting, as raised by Fehrenbacher.
“It’s unclear if this will become a plotline on Alaskan Bush People , but my guess is not if in fact it’s being privately funded. I just hope “’emaw’ knows they might not actually be in Browntown when she goes looking for them.”
The Alaskan Bush People producers aren’t footing the bill and likely have no say in what Ami’s family chooses to document during their trip. That means that the relatives probably won’t be editing any encounters — as one would expect with footage captured by reality TV crews.
Therefore, the Ami Brown reunion footage might not make its way onto Alaskan Bush People after all. Without having the exclusive ability to edit and interpret the events of the meeting, it would leave producers without a guaranteed method of marketing their product (the Browns) to the audience in the most flattering light possible. Even if attempted, there could exist potentially damning images and video elsewhere that would undermine the show’s version of the planned on-camera meeting.
Such a risk might be too much, leading to Alaskan Bush People not airing or even acknowledging Ami Brown’s possible reunion with her estranged family members.

The Discovery Channel choosing to skip over an exciting story arc that would add a dramatic twist to a redundant show seem strange. At least, it seems odd until you consider exactly what’s at stake. Ami Brown’s family has an intense dislike of her husband Billy, the patriarch of the Alaskan Bush People series. Brother Les Branson even went as far as to suggest that Ami’s a victim of domestic abuse.
“I don’t even care if Ami calls her mother at this point. The damage is already done.” Les then said he is happy for Ami becoming a television star, and for the success, however, Les feels Ami ‘has been a virtual prisoner of a domestic abuser for 35 years, and now she is free at last…somewhat.”
That is a hefty accusation. It’s also a sign that while Ami’s family is eager to see her, anything involving Billy Brown might not go over very well. An ugly confrontation where information about Brown is revealed that shatters the image of Billy and the show could prove about as devastating as the fraud scandal was for the show’s reputation.
Les isn’t on the trip; the family members instead consists of Ami Brown’s mother, sister, and a cousin. They want to make contact with Ami because they reportedly haven’t heard from her in over 30 years. It’s a similar stretch of time to what was claimed by Billy Brown regarding his allegedly long-lost daughter. Radar Online revealed she wasn’t so lost after all.

Having Ami Brown confront her own family on-camera would make for good television, but the Alaskan Bush People producers and editors have total control over the situation and how it would be interpreted. The Alaskan television series often aims to put the Browns in the best possible light while indirectly smearing others, including Billy’s eldest daughter Twila’s family and the Alaskan justice system .
If Ami Brown’s family is remotely aware of how alleged facts are presented on Alaskan Bush People , they may be wary of suffering similar misrepresentation. Such concerns could have impacted the decision to document the journey and the planned on-camera reunion. It would be extremely hard for Alaskan Bush People editors to create a version of the meeting that didn’t happen when there are photos and videos that show an entirely different story.
Despite what speculation from gossip sites suggests about an on-camera meeting, there doesn’t seem to be any concrete evidence that the reunion will be aired on the Discovery Channel. If it does eventually happen, it might not be until many months later. A delay could allow Alaskan Bush People to air a more favorable interpretation of the Browns if the meeting goes south and the reality TV stars come across badly.

If curious Alaskan Bush People fans and onlookers want to see the reunion, they will likely have to turn exclusively to social media. A YouTube channel called “Memaw’s Trip To Alaska” was created to post videos of the Alaskan trip and any possible family reunion.
