Chad Johnson Refuses To Sign Divorce Papers Filed By Evelyn Lozada [Report]
Former NFL star Chad Johnson has no plans on letting go of his estranged wife, Evelyn Lozada.
After getting Lozada’s face tattooed on his leg earlier this month, Chad is now reportedly refusing to sign divorce papers for Lozada because he is still attempting to win her back.
Lozada, star of VH1’s Basketball Wives, filed for divorce three days after Johnson allegedly head-butted her during a heated argument in August.
The incident led to Chad’s arrest and Evelyn receiving stitches. Johnson, a one-time top receiver in the NFL, was also subsequently released by the Miami Dolphins and his upcoming reality show with Evelyn, Ev and Ocho, was canceled by VH1.
Since then, Lozada, who married Johnson on July 4, has gone public with her feelings for Chad, saying that he needs to take responsibility for his actions. Lozada told TMZ:
“It is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well.”
TMZ notes that, unfortunately for Johnson, under Florida Law, where Evelyn filed the papers to annul the marriage, Lozada can have the divorce finalized with the permission of a judge.
“You can’t repair this,” Lozada told People magazine last week. “Not right now, you just can’t.”
