Jake Gyllenhaal ‘Determined’ To Win Dakota Johnson After Rooney Mara Rumors

Jake Gyllenhaal was recently linked to Rooney Mara after appearing next to her in New York. That rumor quickly got refuted when people realized that Charlie McDowell, her long-time boyfriend, was also in the picture. But it seems like that rumor was a wake-up call for the 35-year-old actor as it looks like he is still harboring feelings for Dakota Johnson.

“Rumors started flying that the actors were an item after photos surfaced of them walking side-by-side in New York City on June 18,” reports Entertainment Tonight. “Many claimed that the two looked flirty, but the pics also only showed Gyllenhaal and Mara in the frame. If you zoom out, however, you’ll see a guy in a gray shirt to the right of the Southpaw star. His name is Charlie McDowell, and he’s not only an actor, but he’s also Mara’s longtime, live-in boyfriend.”

Maybe at that moment, Jake realized that he indeed is single, but that he had someone that he cared deeply about.

“Jake Gyllenhaal is reportedly determined to win ex-love Dakota Johnson back,” reports Belfast Telegraph. “The Hollywood couple went their separate ways five years ago, but have apparently reunited for a romantic date following Dakota’s split from boyfriend Matthew Hitt.”

Matthew Hitt and Dakota Johnson were most recently together earlier in June. They were caught holding hands and taking a walk in New York, where he resides. It seemed that the 26-year-old actress was on a short visit just to see him as she has been in Vancouver since mid-March shooting Fifty Shades Darker.

But that relationship came to (yet another) end, leaving her single again. And now, it looks like Jake Gyllenhaal is ready to fight to get her back.

“Even though it was just a fling, Dakota had really strong feelings for him so when he dumped her out of the blue, she was really shocked,” a source said according to Belfast Telegraph. “But it was all because Jake freaked out, as he’s a bit of a commitment-phobe.”

This time, the actor is ready to try a little harder.

“This time Jake’s not taking no for an answer. There was so much chemistry between them, when they met up, and he’s now arranged a romantic dinner for them in New York,” the source added.

But it looks like Dakota Johnson would much prefer to enjoy the peace and calm of being single with her “mane” squeeze.

She also is spending her time hanging out with more grounded people in her life. One of them is the wife of her Fifty Shades co-star Jamie Dornan.

“The 26-year-old met up with Fifty Shades co-star Jamie Dornan’s wife Amelia Warner,” reports Just Jared. “The week before, Dakota and Jamie were spotted filming scenes for one of the films with Brant Daugherty, who plays Sawyer in the third movie, Fifty Shades Freed.”

And when she isn’t making amends with her co-star’s wife, she seems like she is way too occupied to be thinking about the hesitant and commitment-fearing men in her life.

“Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson were spotted kissing on the Vancouver set of the Fifty Shades films on Monday,” reports Daily Mail. “The 34-year-old actor and the actress, 26, are in the midst of filming both the second and third movie in the hit franchise – Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed. During the kissing scene, Jamie, who plays Christian Grey, placed his hands on Dakota’s waist and leaned in for a smooch.”
