Stephanie March? Talks ?Plastic Surgery? Experience
Stephanie March, actress and ex-wife of celebrity chef Bobby Flay, recently wrote an essay addressing her journey with plastic surgery, reports Page Six. March got her breast implants in 2014, only to end up having them removed — but she doesn’t have any regrets about it.
“In retrospect, there were signals that this might not be the right path for me. Every implant I tried on seemed alien, too large. I didn’t feel ready to throw away my pretty bras. I worried that I’d look top-heavy. But I ignored the signs and soldiered on.”
In a personal essay for Refinery29, Stephanie March detailed a pretty challenging experience and chapter of her life, going through complications with her breast augmentations. At this point in her life, she was 39-years-old and nothing seemed to be going right. Her marriage to Bobby Flay was falling apart, and no amount of therapy was making it any easier for her.
Bobby Flay was rumored to be having an affair with Elyse Tirrell, one that lasted three years, according to Stephanie. March also suggested that actress January Jones was just one of the three women Flay was rumored to have been with during their marriage.
In addition to the crumbling marriage, Stephanie was not satisfied with the direction her career was headed in as she was unable to find work. With all of this, March decided that if she couldn’t change anything going on in her life, she could change her body in an attempt to regain some happiness.
“In 5 weeks I looked darn good. Skinny from my misery. Nice breasts from my wallet. My life may have been falling apart, but this? This was pretty good. That is, until one morning in early October when I sat up in bed and felt a sickening wet mucus sliding down my chest.”

Stephanie realized that one of her implants had become infected, with the seams on her scar busting open. March found out that she was allergic to the implants that she had been given. Stephanie was among the very rare percentage of women who experience complications with their breast implants.
“I had a hole in my breast for 6 weeks while I blasted my body with antibiotics,” the Law & Order: SVU star wrote. She had the implant placed back in, hoping things had gotten better. But on Christmas Eve that year, she experienced another rupture and infection, causing her to have to take the implant out again. No matter what her surgeon did — and Stephanie insisted that he is an amazing surgeon — the problem could not be fixed. March was just simply allergic to implants and there was nothing she could really do about that.
“In April, after so much back and forth and so many pieces of gauze and soft bras and waiting to operate until the infections cleared up and not being able to use my arms properly, my surgeon looked at me and gently said, ‘I want you to have what you want. I want you to be happy. But the universe is talking to you. I think you should listen.'”
And as if that was not enough, Stephanie’s mother had been diagnosed with cancer and ended up moving in with her. Her marriage with Bobby had officially come to an end and the tabloids had it all covered. At this point, she decided to just get the implants removed. Following the surgery, things did begin to improve in Stephanie’s life and career, and her mother’s health got better.
In fact, after her divorce from Bobby Flay in 2015, March soon met hedge funder Daniel Benton and the two began dating.
