‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Losing Its Leading Man? Reports Claim Jamie Dornan Is Out For ‘Fifty Shades Freed’

Is Jamie Dornan leaving Fifty Shades Darker?

According to Movie News Guide, Dornan’s wife, Amelia Warner, is suffering from postpartum depression, which might force the actor to step down from the role in Fifty Shades of Grey franchise.

Dornan and Warner recently welcomed their second child to the world. Although Dornan has been busy filming Fifty Shades Darker, he has set time aside to be with his family.

However, despite the additional family time, his wife’s depression is threatening further delays in production, especially concerning Fifty Shades Freed.

Apparently, Dornan’s co-star, Dakota Johnson, has tried to smooth things over with Warner. In fact, Johnson recently shared a sushi lunch with Warner in an effort to keep Dornan on board for the third film in the erotic franchise.

The lunch is surprising considering Warner’s feelings about the movie.

As fans will recall, Warner was reportedly unhappy with the amount of sex scenes Dornan was filming with Johnson. The tension led to rumors of multiple delays and were only heightened after Warner joined her husband on set in Canada.

Things only got worse after Dornan was offered a boost in salary to appear fully nude in Fifty Shades Darker. According to Master Herald, producers offered Dornan a $1.5 million bonus.

In speaking about the possibility of Dornan exposing all in the movie, Australian Network News reports that Johnson really likes the idea.

In fact, when asked about Dornan’s full frontal, Johnson stated that he should agree to do it because “everyone wants to see the D.”

The reports of a full frontal haven’t been confirmed, but Dornan and Johnson have been seen kissing and cuddling on set. Taken together, Dornan’s relationship with Johnson has not gone over well with Warner.

But does she want him to pull the plug and step away from the hit franchise?

So far, Dornan has not addressed his plans to leave Fifty Shades Darker or Fifty Shades Freed. Production is close to wrapping for the sequel, which means he will likely stay on board through the end.

His involvement in Fifty Shades Freed is another matter.

The third movie in the erotic trilogy is expected to start filming right after Fifty Shades Darker is finished. However, if Warner is suffering from depression, there is a chance Dornan will opt out of his contract in order to spend more time with his growing family.

That being said, Marcia Gay Harden, who plays Grace Grey in the movie, recently revealed that the next two movies will focus “more on romance” than sex.

“The second one they fall in love,” Harden explained. “I think that that’s where E.L. [James] is going – that love can change people. And it can!”

If there are less steamy sex scenes ahead, there is a chance that Warner won’t care about Dornan’s involvement.

At the same time, there is some indication that production for Fifty Shades Freed has already started. Lindsay B, who is thought to be a part of the production team, shared a list of instructions on Twitter for an interior scene.

The shot includes Christian Grey’s apartment and is likely a scene from the third movie.

“How about Thursday studio scenes?” Lindsay wrote alongside the image. “Sure. Why not? #FiftyShades.”

If Fifty Shades Freed has already started filming, then it isn’t likely that Dornan will quit before it’s finished. Of course, fans will have to wait until more information is released to determine Dornan’s fate.

Fifty Shades Darker is scheduled to open in theaters on February 10, 2017, while Fifty Shades Freed is set to premiere a year later.
