SNL is rebuilding a large portion of this cast this year.
According to Seattle PI, the late night sketch show has added two comedians from the legendary Chicago improv troupe Second City. Aidy Bryant and Tim Robinson are scheduled to join SNL next season
Second City has produced legendary comedians like John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd and John Candy. Recent alums include Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Steve Carrel and Stephen Colbert.
Bryant is an alum of Second City Phoenix, Arizona. She has a theater degree from Columbia College and has performed with SNL‘s Vanessa Bayer at the Chicago’s Annoynance Theatre comedy club. Robinson, a native of Detroit but an alum at Chicago’s Second City, has already had a few TV appearances. Most recently, Robinson was seen in the CBS comedy Friend Me.
The 38th season of Saturday Night Live premieres next week on September 15th. Seth MacFarlane will be hosting with musical guest Frank Ocean. It’s unclear if Aidy Bryant and Tim Robinson will be ready for the season premiere.
