Texas Mother Shoots Two Daughters To Death Before Police Kill Her
Christy Sheats, a Texas mother and gun advocate, was shot dead by police after she fatally shot her two daughters in a family dispute, according to reports.
Police are investigating the reason that led to Christy Sheats shooting dead her two daughters. Reports mentioned earlier police visits to the family home while neighbors recall the Christy home a “great family.”
Police officers arrived at the normally quiet neighborhood in Fulshear to find 42-year-old Christy Sheats holding a gun outside the family’s home in Fort Bend County, near Houston. Her daughters – Taylor, 22, and Madison, 17 – were lying on the street fatally wounded by gun shots.
Reportedly, police asked Sheats to put down the gun, but she refused. When Sheats tried to walk toward one of the bodies, a police officer fired a single shot, killing her.
Texas mother shot her daughters following a family argument, law enforcement officials said. Sheats’ husband, Jason Sheats, was at home during the shooting. One of the daughters died on the street, while another was flown to a hospital but could not be saved. Both the daughters worked as babysitters, according to their Facebook pages.
Houston Chronicle quoted Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls, saying, “It was a family argument that turned into a shooting. But we’re still trying to put the pieces together.”
Police are investigating the case and it is still not clear whether the Texas Mother shot the girls first inside their home or on the street.
Nehls also said, “It would be too premature to provide a motive as to why the incident happened. The best is to pray for the father and husband so he can work through this.”
The police recovered a handgun from the scene and are investigating into whether Christy fired at responding officers before she was shot.
The Texas mother of two was a business manager at a laser tattoo removal clinic.Buzzfeed reported that Christy Sheats was a vocal gun rights advocate and posted about guns and Second Amendment on Facebook. In March, she posted a message asserting her right to have semiautomatic handguns.
“It would be horribly tragic if my ability to protect myself or my family were to be taken away, but that’s exactly what Democrats are determined to do by banning semi-automatic handguns.”
Reportedly, the Facebook posts displayed Christy Sheats’ love for guns when she posted staunch defense of her rights to bear arms.
In another FB message, she declared “I have 10 guns. Obama wants eight of my guns. How many guns do I have? That’s right, I have 10 guns.”
New York Daily News quoted neighbors saying a family argument started inside the couple’s Houston-area home leading into gun violence that spilled out on the street.
Reportedly, Jason Sheats managed to flee unharmed and called police from a neighbor’s home. He and Christy recently reunited after separating. Following the incident, an emotionally distraught Jason was taken to a hospital for traumatic care.
Seemingly, Christy Sheats enjoyed cordial relationship with her daughters. In another Facebook post, she appeared on good terms with her daughters and showered them with praise.
“Happy Daughter’s Day to my amazing, sweet, kind, beautiful, intelligent girls,” she wrote. “I love and treasure you both more than you could ever possibly know.”
CBS News quoted a neighbor Austin Enke saying, “The neighborhood’s never seen this kind of thing before. It’s always quiet. This is surprising. They never showed any kind of thing that was wrong with them whatsoever.”
