Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Headed For A Split? Couple At Odds Over Her Political Ambitions And Selling Chateau Miraval
Angelina Jolie continues to make strides in her political career.
However, are her political ambitions tearing apart her marriage to Brad Pitt?
According to International Business Times, Jolie is using her status in the United Nations to get into British politics. Apparently, the actress is now eying a spot in the House of Lords.
In order to launch her British political career, Jolie is willing to sell her lavish estate in France. However, Pitt is unwilling to let go of the Miraval property, which was recently renovated.
“Angelina is ramping up her efforts in the political world,” a source explained. “She wants to sell Chateau Miraval and Brad refuses.”
In order to land a seat in the House of Lords, a person has to become a tax paying British citizen.
This isn’t the first time Jolie’s has talked about British politics. Back in 2014, Jolie commented on Arminka Helic’s appointment to the House of Lords, saying, “She’s been in many ways a mentor to me and she’s an extraordinary woman.”
Jolie and Pitt are currently living in the UK while he works on the sequel to World War Z.
The couple lives in a massive eight bedroom home and are spending upwards of $21,000 per month on rent. It isn’t known how long they plan on living in London, though Jolie’s work might extend their stay indefinitely.
While Pitt works on the movie, Jolie has busied herself with the Syrian refugee crisis. At the same time, she is also lecturing at the London School of Economics in the fall.According to Parent Herald, Jolie’s political aspirations are threatening her marriage. Jolie’s desire to sell Miraval, which also produces wine, is pushing Pitt to the brink of divorce.
Pitt and Jolie married back in 2014 and have six kids together. By all outward appearances, their marriage seems completely normal.
Along with their estate in France, the Daily Mail is reporting that Jolie and Pitt own a house in Los Angeles. At this time, it is unclear if they will sell that home in order to plant more roots in the UK.
In the meantime, Angelina Jolie has also expressed an interest in working on a sequel to Maleficent. The animated film has been confirmed by Disney, though an inside source said that Jolie “has turned her back on Hollywood.”
Jolie’s political life, meanwhile, has increased over the years. Just last month, Jolie talked with reporters at the State Department in honor of World Refugee Day.
Furthermore, back in 2014, Queen Elizabeth made Jolie an Honorary Dame, sparking further reports of her political aspirations in the country.
As far as their marriage is concerned, Pitt and Jolie have faced multiple breakup rumors over the past year. Are these reports a clear indication that they are on the verge of a split?
This past January, the couple’s marital woes were highlighted after Jolie walked down the red carpet for Kung Fu Panda 3. The actress appeared frail and bone thin, leading many to wonder if her health problems were adding stress to the marriage.
To complicate matters further, the couple reportedly ran into money problems while living in London while Jolie’s health continues to be a sore subject. So far, neither Jolie nor Pitt has addressed the growing rumors about their marriage. If their past behavior is a guide, then the stars will likely keep things under wraps and out of the public eye.
Of course, it will be interesting to see if Jolie pursues a career in British politics. Considering Pitt’s love for France, selling the Miraval property could be the final straw in their relationship.
