Father Suspected Of Abducting Children And Fleeing On Stolen Yacht

Police in San Francisco are searching for a man suspected of fleeing with his two abducted children aboard a stolen yacht.

NBC News reports that at around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, the two children, Devin, 2, and Brooklyn, 3, were abducted from their mother’s home. The children were abducted on the 100 block of James Court in San Francisco.

Police believe that the children were taken by their father, Christopher Maffei, 43, who fled in a rented white Ford Fusion.

The police investigation has led them to believe that, after taking his kids, Maffei stole a 40-foot yacht from Bellena Isle Marina in Alameda and sailed away with the two children. Maffei’s rented Ford Fusion was found abandoned in the parking lot of the marina and has been towed for evidence.

The yacht that Maffei stole from the marina is named “Unleashed” and has “San Franciso, CA” painted on the stern. The yacht was last seen at about 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the area of Mare Island near Vallejo, reports SFGATE.

Brooklyn was last seen wearing a white sleeveless dress with blue and green designs. Devin was wearing a short-sleeved “Sponge Bob SquarePants” t-shirt and a diaper, reports the San Jose Mercury News.

According to police, Maffei has said in the past that he would like to sail to Monterey or Mexico.

State, county, and federal agencies have been informed to keep an eye out for Meffei, the yacht, and the two abducted children.

Anyone who spots them has been asked to contact South San Francisco police at (650) 877-8900.
