‘RHONY’ Star Sonja Morgan Will Not Back Down In Her Booze Battle With Bethenny Frankel — Here Comes Tipsy Girl The Restaurant
Sonja Morgan’s booze battle with Bethenny Frankel has only just begun.
Although the two women have already duked it out on The Real Housewives of New York, Morgan is going through with her plans to launch her new prosecco line. Only now, the reality star is adding a restaurant to the mix.
People is reporting that Morgan bought a spot on Eighth Street in New York that will house both her wine collection and a new restaurant.
An image of the outside of Morgan’s new place was posted on Instagram, which hasn’t been well received by other RHONY cast members.
“Seriously?” Carole Radziwill commented under the photo. “Oh boy…”
The restaurant is not ready to open yet, but it will be available as early as next month. If all goes well, Morgan plans on opening franchises in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Miami.
Morgan and Frankel butted heads this season because Morgan’s new line closely resembles Frankel’s Skinnygirl brand.
Morgan’s brand is named Tipsy Girl, which is clearly a play off Frankel’s $100 million franchise.
Although Frankel tried to take Morgan to court over the name, she “doesn’t care” anymore about Morgan’s business venture. Instead, she’s more worried about Peter Guimaraes, Morgan’s business partner, and their plans to exploit her brand for attention.
“This guy is trying to get his name in print,” an insider told People. “It will never happen. Skinnygirl is simply protecting its intellectual property and making sure consumers are not confused.”
Frankel claims that her business is “legitimate” and has been featured on Bravo on numerous occasions. Apparently, Frankel is still not convinced that Morgan’s Tipsy Girl is for real.
“These other people’s business are not always real,” the insider continued. “They have to find stuff to keep the others relevant.”
Meanwhile, Page Six is reporting that Sonja Morgan’s latest move is a clear victory over Frankel.
While the new restaurant still has a lot of work before it opens, a rep told the outlet that Guimaraes and Morgan have high hopes for the establishment.
“He wants it to be a place [where] everyone feels comfortable and at home with great food, drinks and friends,” the rep shared. “No pretentious staff with attitudes like so many other hot spots in this city. When you come to Tipsy Girl, you become part of the family and treated as such.”
What will the new restaurant have on the menu?
Apart from a large selection of wine, the rep revealed that all the food will be based on the drink selection.
“The menu will be fun, sharing plates that pair well with our wines… The drinks menu will include many varietals of Bellinis mixed with Tipsy Girl prosecco,” the rep added.
So far, around 10,000 cases of Tipsy Girl Prosecco are ready to go.
Frankel has yet to comment on the new restaurant, though her feelings probably haven’t changed much.
“This feeble attempt to trade on [Frankel’s] brand reputation is laughable,” one of Frankel’s reps stated.
According to Eatery, this isn’t the first time Frankel has engaged in public feuds. A few years ago, Frankel and Martha Stewart had an epic fight that also made headlines.
As far as Morgan is concerned, the Daily Mail is reporting that she is also engaged in a battle with Luann de Lesseps.
In an upcoming episode of RHONY, de Lesseps reveals that she is dating Thomas D’Agostino. The only problem is that Ramona Singer previous dated him and Morgan later revealed that she and D’Agostino also hooked up.
“He may be her soul mate but I’ve been doing him forever,” she stated.
Fans can watch the drama unfold when new episodes of The Real Housewives of New York air Wednesday nights on Bravo.
