Kim Kardashian Fuels Taylor Swift & Kanye West Feud
Taylor Swift and Kanye West have been involved in a feud for years, and now Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian, is adding fuel to that feud. Addressing the controversy, Kim told GQ that Taylor is not telling the truth in the latest round of accusations between the singer and West.
The feud recently received the spotlight again when Kanye released his “Famous” track from his album The Life of Pablo. In his lyrics, West addresses Swift specifically.
“I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b***h famous.”
The rap from “Famous” earned a strong backlash. Kanye then clarified that Taylor had provided him with permission to use her name in the song. In West’s rendition of what happened, she approved the lyrics.
However, Team Taylor claimed that she had not been familiarized with either the lyrics or the song prior to the public’s awareness of what Kanye had written about her. And when she took home the Grammy for Album of the Year for 1989 just after the release of The Life Of Pablo, she used part of her thank-you speech to throw shade at West. Now Kardashian, in retrospect, is throwing shade back at Taylor. In her account of what happened, Kim claims that Team Kanye received approval from the “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer.
“[Taylor] totally gave the okay,” asserted Kardashian. “Rick Rubin was there. So many respected people in the music business heard that [conversation] and knew.”
In addition to the allegations that others listened to Swift approve the lyrics that are the focus of the latest round in the feud, Kim brought up the topic of video proof. Kardashian contends that video footage preserved the dialogue.
The videographer was employed not to specifically document Taylor’s approval. Instead, the intention was to save everything that went into creating The Life of Pablo. But now even the tape is ammunition in the battle.
Swift’s side argues that Kanye’s group has an obligation to take the tape and make it available to the public. Kim claims that West got a letter from a lawyer that asked that the tape be either destroyed or locked up.
Representatives for Kanye agreed with Kardashian, telling GQ that the conversation between West and Swift had been preserved on film, and that Taylor’s attorneys had contacted them. As for Team Swift, her representative offered a statement.“Taylor does not hold anything against Kim Kardashian as she recognizes the pressure Kim must be under and that she is only repeating what she has been told by Kanye West. However, that does not change the fact that much of what Kim is saying is incorrect.”
The spokesperson alleges that West and Swift only talked once on the phone during one of her family vacations. During that phone call, Kanye requested that Taylor used her Twitter account to release the song. She refused.
“Kanye West never told Taylor he was going to use the term ‘that b***h’ in referencing her,” added the spokesperson. “A song cannot be approved if it was never heard. Kanye West never played the song for Taylor Swift. Taylor heard it for the first time when everyone else did and was humiliated.”
Moreover, the representative denied that Swift knew she was being recorded.
“Taylor cannot understand why Kanye West, and now Kim Kardashian, will not just leave her alone.”
In Kim’s eyes, Swift is lying, reported ET.
“She totally knew that that was coming out. She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t,” slammed Kardashian.
Kim also contends that she has no idea why Taylor would “flipped” so suddenly. Kardashian claims that the “Bad Blood” singer had joked about the situation, only to turn around and throw shade at Kanye in her Grammy acceptance speech.
“[On the call with Kanye, Swift] said, ‘When I get on the Grammy red carpet, all the media is going to think that I’m so against this, and I’ll just laugh and say, ‘The joke’s on you, guys. I was in on it the whole time.’ And I’m like, wait, but [in] your Grammy speech, you completely dissed my husband just to play the victim again.”
The feud between West and Swift started when in 2009, he interrupted her MTV Music Awards acceptance speech. Six years after that infamous interruption, they appeared to have become friends, with the singer giving Kanye MTV’s Video Vanguard Award. But with the release of Pablo, and subsequent arguments from West and Kardashian, the feud is on fire again.
