Honey Boo Boo: Thompson Family Isn’t Getting Rich From Reality TV

Honey Boo Boo, the Mountain Dew and Red Bull-guzzling star of the TLC reality television program Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, isn’t going to get rich off her appearances on the popular show anytime soon, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Although the adventures of the Thompson clan and their colorful children have been a ratings giant for the cable network, the family won’t be able to retire anytime soon with the money they’re making from the program.

Sources have told THR that the Thompsons make anywhere between $2,000 and $4,000 per episode, which means they enjoy an annual take of around $40,000. Although this is certainly more than some people make all year, the number seems a bit small when you consider how many family members live under one roof.

Since TLC doesn’t comment on the salaries of those individuals they employ for their reality television programs, there’s no official word on the Thompson’s paycheck. However, given the the budget of most of these shows, $40,000 a year for their cooperation sounds about right.

Honey Boo Boo, the little girl from Toddlers & Tiaras who believes that Elvis Presley is one of Santa Claus’ helpers, should be happy with her accomplishments as of late. Not only has her mother sworn off feeding “Go-Go Juice” to the youngster, she also helped TLC destroy the Republican National Convention (RNC) in the ratings.

According to Nielsen, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo drew in over 3 million viewers during the 10 o’clock time slot. The RNC, meanwhile, only managed to ensnare 1.7 million during the same time. According to little girl’s mom, June Shannon, the secret of the show’s success is the family itself.

“Our fan base tells us that when they have a bad day they can be able to watch our show and be able to get a good laugh; I honestly laugh at the show too because it is kind of funny, because we know we have fun filming it. It’s just all about having fun making memories,” she recently explained to Ryan Seacrest.
