Female Torso Found At Niagara Falls, Identity Unknown
A female torso was found at the bottom of Niagara Falls according to Canadian authorities. Police suspect that the torso is that of a missing American.
Police have classified the case as an active homicide, and a police spokesman said of the discovery:
“We are prepared to say that it was a dismemberment.”
After discovering the torso, police officials examined more than 50 Canadian missing person case files; during the police investigation, officers found that none of their possible open case victims “fit the parameters” of the discovered torso.
Speaking to the Niagara Falls Review, Niagara Regional Police Inspector Jim McCaffery revealed:
“We have met with our American policing partners who continue to review missing-persons reports in their jurisdiction,”
Police believe the body may have entered Niagara Falls by way of the United States. Officials have expanded their search into New York and other surrounding states. No leads have come forward at this time to help officials in their search.
State police revealed that the torso belongs to that of a middle-aged white female with a pierced navel.
According to the Associated Press, officials claim that this case has nothing to do with a body parts case that emerged in Toronto in August. Dismemberment concerns have been cropping up ever since porn actor Luka Magnotta dismembered a Chinese student in Montreal before mailing the victims body parts to politicians and schools.
Anyone with possible information regarding the missing person should contact their local police agency as soon as possible to provide further details.
