15 Minutes Of Gameplay Released For ‘Injustice 2,’ And Ed Boon Pretty Much Confirms A Huge Roster Addition
Injustice 2 just had its first trailer release last week, and it’s already getting a ton of attention as fans can’t wait for it to drop in 2017. The trailer showed a lot of awesome footage and common characters, but gamers are excited for the newcomers and want more. Well, now there is a full 15 minutes more of gameplay which features Atrocitus and Supergirl, and creative director Ed Boon may have spoiled the addition of another big name on the roster.
Gameplay, the roster, and the awesome DC Comics characters included in the game are a huge part of Injustice 2, but the focus actually lies elsewhere in the sequel to the 2013 hit game. As reported by IGN, creative director Ed Boon says that they really wanted the spotlight to be on personalizing and games making characters their own.
In the new gameplay footage released, Supergirl and Atrocitus are featured first, but there are a number of other characters shown as well. Superman takes on Gorilla Grodd, Batman fights Aquaman, and there is more as well.
The roster is truly growing, but there is only a small amount of it that has actually been revealed. Ed Boon, who loves to play around with the fans, recently did an interview with Game Informer where he spoke about the game and at one point, he said that failing to do a “Wonder Woman movie skin” for the 2017 title would be considered a missed opportunity.
After that, he hopped on Twitter and decided to fuel the fire.

As of now, there are not a lot of confirmed characters for the Injustice 2 roster, but fans have seen Supergirl, Superman, Batman, Atrocitus, Gorilla Grodd, Aquaman, and The Flash. Boon may have done a bit more teasing of the fans as he posted an image to Twitter that got everyone talking.

The T-shirt he is wearing was given at the Season 3 ESL Mortal Kombat Finals last weekend, and it had an intriguing look to it. ON the shirt, there were a number of masks, weapons, logos, and other items from DC characters. Many believe those characters will be playable in Injustice 2, and that’s pretty awesome.
Items included on the shirt are:
- Wonder Woman’s shield – Maybe
- Doctor Fate’s helmet
- Batman’s cowl
- The Flash’s boot
- Superman’s shield
- Captain Cold’s gun
- Harley Quinn’s hammer
- Aquman’s trident
- Green Lantern’s power battery
The official synopsis for Injustice 2 doesn’t necessarily tell a whole lot of new information, but it’s still great to see all the talk about personalizing DC Comics characters as you wish.
“Build and power up the ultimate version of your favorite DC legends in Injustice 2. With a massive selection of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains, Injustice 2 allows you to personalize every iconic character with unique and powerful gear. Take control over how your favorite characters look, how they fight, and how they develop across a huge variety of game modes. This is your Legend. Your Journey. Your Injustice.”
Going further, Injustice 2 does continue the story from the first game where Superman is in prison after all that took place in Injustice: Gods Among Us. A new threat has emerged, though, and the heroes need to determine whether Superman should be let free to help them or not.
Injustice 2 is still a great number of months away from being released, but fans already can’t get enough of it and Ed Boon just loves teasing them. The new footage of gameplay between Supergirl and Atrocitus is phenomenal. Additions such as Wonder Woman and Gorilla Grodd make the roster so much stronger.
