Demi Lovato, Wilmer Valderrama Split Because Singer Wanted To Settle Down & Get Married: Demi Now Dating Nick Jonas?

Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama reportedly went their separate ways and called it quits because the singer was desperate for her ex-boyfriend to put a ring on it and marry her.

According to OK!, Demi was hoping that Wilmer would eventually propose and show some kind of commitment to their five-year romance. The fact that they had been together for such a long time seemed to convince Demi that Wilmer was the one she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.

But when marriage and children were brought up in a conversation, Valderrama gave the impression that he wasn’t ready for that kind of a commitment, leaving Lovato heartbroken. Wilmer was said to have been Demi’s first real boyfriend, so to be told that he didn’t want to get married — at least not in the near future — didn’t sit well with the “Confident” singer.

“Demi wanted a ring, but Wilmer wasn’t ready to get married. She didn’t want to wait around anymore, so they decided to part ways,” a source tells the outlet.

During her appearance on Ellen earlier this year, when questioned on whether Wilmer would ever propose to her, Demi Lovato responded confidently, telling the talk show host that she’s certain they would eventually tie the knot and settle down.

With that in mind, it’s clear that Wilmer was the one who was hesitant when it came to proposing to Demi, someone who had been in his life for more than five years, seeing that they were best pals before they started dating.

Following their split, Demi and Wilmer revealed the following in a statement, “After almost six loving and wonderful years together, we have decided to end our relationship. This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us, but we have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends. We will always be supportive of one another.”

The two concluded by saying, “Thank you to everyone who has offered us kindness and support over the years. With only love, Wilmer & Demi.”

News concerning the couple’s split comes just days after reports alleged that Valderrama reportedly became suspicious of Lovato’s close friendship with singer Nick Jonas.

The 36-year-old actor allegedly convinced himself that Jonas was secretly hooking up with his girlfriend, and the fact that both singers would be touring the world together in weeks to come was unsettling enough for Wilmer, who was also said to have questionable messages on Demi’s phone from Nick.

Again, Wilmer’s supposed belief that Demi Lovato was secretly cheating on him with Nick Jonas is all alleged, but keeping this in mind, along with the supposed fact that Valderrama didn’t want to marry Lovato, perhaps the singer was cheating on him because she knew that their romance wasn’t going anywhere.

With Demi heading out on tour with Nick later this month, it’ll be interesting to see whether their friendship really has blossomed into a full-blown relationship and if that was to be the case, could you really blame Lovato? After all, she has allegedly been holding out for Wilmer Valderrama to make the move and propose to her, but the actor just didn’t seem like he was ready for that kind of commitment.

But maybe they’ll reconcile in the future when Wilmer realizes he should’ve just put a ring on it.
