‘Starship’ Lead Guitarist Mark Abrahamian Dead Of Heart Attack At 46
Mark Abrahamian of the band Starship passed away on Sunday night following a performance with his band. The lead guitarist of the group told his bass player he wasn’t feeling very well and then dropped dead of a heart attack at 46-years-old.
According to the bands road manager Scott Harrison:
“We had just finished the show. We were back in the dressing room eating. He apparently told the bass player he wasn’t feeling well.”
The guitarist was talking to his fiance on the phone when he suddenly collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. The couple had planned to get married in Hawaii this coming December.
An autopsy on Monday revealed the cause of death which Harrison told the Associated Press was a “shock to everyone.”
Starship which is an offshoot of the 1960s band Jefferson Airplane and the 1980s remix Jefferson Starship was opening up for Survivor and Boston.
While the guitarist had not opened up about his chest pains with band members, he had recently discussed them with his fiance.
Abrahamian joined Starship 11 years ago.
The bands Monday concert in Orem, Utah was promptly cancelled.
