Michael Bay Responds To Leaked Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Script
Michael Bay, a man who doesn’t sit idly buy when one of his projects is being trashed on the internet, has decided to respond to rumors that the script for his reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise is all sorts of terrible. According to Cinema Blend, Bay isn’t too happy that people have been taking smack about the production, especially when the script currently making the rounds is a very early draft.
In a post on his official forum, Michael Bay didn’t waste any time letting internet movie geeks know what he thinks about their critique of the script.
“The leaked script for Ninja Turtles that different sites continue to comment on was written well before I, or anyone at Platinum Dunes, was involved with the project. That script saw the shredder a long time ago. This is tired, old news — Wait for the movie!” he wrote in a recent post.
Despite what Bay says about the script, the website Latino Review states that the script in question was written earlier this year. According to them, this is roughly two years after Bay’s production company became attached to the project. Not one to let a movie gossip site get the better of him; the Transformers director issued another official comment on the matter.
“To end this stupid merry go round and explain the math,” Bay wrote on his website Shoot for the Edit. Yes we signed on two years ago to Turtles, but with no deal in place. Deal completed towards end of last year. And yes, that’s how long deals sometimes take. So no work was done on the script. Blame Paramount, not us for the first draft.”
Jonathan Liebesman, the man who is currently attached to direct the project, explained his thoughts about the property’s rabid fanbase to Coming Soon back in March.
“I heard about it, and I’m glad there’s such a passionate fanbase–I think that was good news for everyone–but literally, I’ve just been locked in a room with Kevin Eastman. I think what we’re developing, the fans will love,” he explained. “I’m a fan, and I love what we’re doing. It’s a lot of stuff Kevin’s been thinking about for a long time and just hasn’t done. Anything we expand will tie right into the mythology, so I think fans will go apesh*t when they see it.”
