Adam Levine To Pay For The Funeral Of Murdered ‘The Voice’ Star Christina Grimmie

Adam Levine has reportedly offered to pay for the funeral of former The Voice contestant Christina Grimmie, who was shot dead while greeting fans after a concert in Orlando, Florida, on June 10.

According to Facebook account claiming to belong to Grimmie’s brother, Marcus Grimmie, Levine allegedly reached out to Christina’s family in the wake of her tragic death, which happened in the early hours of June 11, and offered to cover the costs of Grimmie’s upcoming funeral.

The Facebook status reported to have been posted by Marcus, and later recited by PopCrush on June 13, stated that “Adam Levine personally called my mother and said he will pay for the funeral and her plane flight,” assumed to be Christina’s flight back to California from Florida.

A slew of Grimmie and Levine’s fans took to social media to praise Adam for his offer, describing Adam as being an “amazing guy.”

“Adam Levine is one amazing guy! Paying for plane tickets & Christina’s funeral. God bless you” @SAMMYJ0_ tweeted out, while @VaniaMiamiRio wrote, “Heard Adam Levine is paying for @TheRealGrimmie’s funeral. Thank you, Adam. And may God bless her family #RIPChristinaGrimmie #peace #love.”

“Adam Levine is such a kind hearted man for paying for [Christina Grimmie’s] funeral,” @iamjessicagaska added. “It shows that the bond that they had on the show was real.”

The claims follow Adam’s recent messages on social media following Christina’s death, in which the Maroon 5 singer, who served as Grimmie’s coach when she appeared on Season 6 of NBC’s The Voice in 2014, admitted that he was “heartbroken” over her death.

“Behati and I are absolutely devastated and heartbroken by Christina Grimmie’s death,” Levine tweeted on June 11, referring to wife Behati Prinsloo, who is currently expecting the couple’s first child. “Our hearts go out to her family,” Levine added.

Adam’s message came shortly after Levine took to Instagram upon hearing the news that Christina was in critical condition after the Orlando Sentinel reported that she had been shot during a meet-and-greet following a concert in the Florida city on June 10.

Shortly before it was announced that Christina had tragically died from her injuries, Levine posted a photo of himself and Grimmie on his Instagram page, where Adam admitted that he was “sad, shocked and confused” by what had happened.

“We love you so much Grimmie,” Levine wrote. “We are all praying hard that you can pull through this… this just isn’t fair.”

Marcus Grimmie’s reported Facebook post also alluded to the GoFundMe page set up by Brian Teefey, the stepfather of Selena Gomez, which has already raised more than $125,000 for Christina Grimmie’s family.

After revealing Adam Levine’s generous offer, Marcus admitted that he was “blown away” by the support and the six figure sum donated to the family.

“A friend just told me to look at the gofundme page and I see it is at 100k,” Grimmie wrote. “Words cannot express… literally I have no words.”

“I promise both my parents and I will read every one of these personalized messages,” Marcus continued. “I’m so blown away by everything right now. But all I can say is thank you. And Christina will be missed and never ever forgotten.”

Marcus Grimmie is largely credited for saving the lives of many others during the shooting that left his sister dead, as ABC News reported that Marcus tackled the shooter, later identified as Kevin James Loibl, to the ground after he opened fire on Christina on June 10.

The site reported that Orlando Police Department officers called Grimmie a “hero” and cited his actions during the tragic incident as being “heroic,” potentially saved many other lives.
