‘Big Brother’ 18 News: Monday’s Cast Reveal Cancelled, CBS Announces Delay in House Guest Intros

Fans have been anxiously anticipating the reveal of the Big Brother 18 cast, which had previously been scheduled for Monday, June 13 at 11 a.m. ET. on CBS All Access live feeds. But, late Sunday night, the evening prior to the big event, it was announced that house guest introductions would be delayed.

According to Carter Matt, the meet and greet, which was originally to be streamed live with Big Brother’s Jeff Schroeder as host, will not be available until Tuesday, June 14, at 4 p.m. in what will likely be “pre-taped interviews,” thus, not aired live.

CBS made a brief official announcement about the issue, getting right to the point on their Twitter feed in a message posted at 11:15 pm Sunday night which read:

#MeetTheHGsLive will not be streamed live tomorrow. Cast interviews will be available Tue 4pm ET/1pm PT to #CBSAllAccss subscribers.”

The reason for this frustrating delay has yet to be revealed, and in all likelihood, the postponement may never be explained to fans.

Nevertheless, Carter Matt has come up with some witty, inventive, and quite interesting ideas about why fans will have to wait until Tuesday to find out who is going to be moving into the Big Brother 18 house.

According to Carter Matt, the interviews are possibly being taped because Jeff may have been stricken with laryngitis; Big Brother is extremely fearful a house guest may inadvertently give away a twist if the interviews are live; a scheduling problem or technical glitch may be responsible; or there could have been changes in production staff because of the horrific, violent events that occurred this weekend.

Big Brother Network, which initially reported it would have bios, photos, and other juicy details about the new cast mates ahead of Monday’s previously scheduled live feed reveal, is reporting about the delay as well. There is currently no word as to whether the site will still have early access to this information before Jeff’s interviews are made available on live feeds Tuesday afternoon.

According to Big Brother Network, press event interviews that were to commence on Monday are not allowed to be released until a day or two after they take place, which the website notes may indicate something unusual is taking place regarding the cast, as this does not seem to be routine protocol. It remains unclear as to whether a press event will occur Monday, as was previously scheduled.

In any case, a change in regular Big Brother routine could give some credence to rumors that veteran cast members will be entering the Big Brother 18 house, either as coaches, or simply as competitors.

The Big Brother Insider has created a timeline of what should be taking place regarding certain dates involving the cast mates and their participation in the game.

According to the website, based on past season dates, between Monday, June 6 and Friday, June 10, the house guests should have been “kidnapped” or escorted from their homes to a hotel in California. As seen on past Big Brother seasons, cast members are filmed receiving their house keys and some of their back story is revealed at this time.

The Big Brother Insider notes that usually photos of the typically revamped Big Brother house are revealed on the same day as house guest introductions are aired, but this year is different, as some photos of the house were “leaked” last week by Entertainment Tonight.

According to the website, another notable date should be Wednesday, June 15, when players should enter the Big Brother 18 house. The Big Brother Insider came up with this date based on audience ticket sales for Season 18, and the taping of the premiere episode, which is two-hours long and airs on June 22.

Ultimately, reasons behind the Big Brother 18 live cast introduction delay and who will be house guests are pure speculation until the cast interviews are aired or the show airs on launch night.

So, fans must wait another day to find out if all the rumor and innuendo about Big Brother 18 is true or whether some familiar faces will be back in the game to duke it out with rookie players.
