Jaden Smith: Is His Controversial Relationship With Sarah Snyder Compromising His Reputation And Career? [Video]

Jaden Smith has truly made his own way in Hollywood. Sure, he’s the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, a pair that is considered among Tinsel Town’s royalty. Sure, Jaden Smith got his acting start beside his famous dad in The Pursuit of Happyness. But that doesn’t mean that the 17-year-old hasn’t made a name for himself and created his own brand and image apart from his famous parents. Jaden Smith has embraced a gender-fluid style that has led him to be the first male face of Louis Vuitton’s women’s fashion. He’s had a touted music career and is worth an estimated $8 million in his own right.

Jaden Smith has also had his fair share of high-profile relationships. Even though he’s still just a teen, the Hollywood youth has been linked to Kylie Jenner, famously went to prom (in a skirt) with Amandla Stenberg of The Hunger Games, and is now dating the notorious Sarah Snyder. It’s Jaden Smith’s most recent (and still current) relationship that is starting to raise eyebrows and concerns that the 17-year-old might be being negatively influenced by his adult girlfriend — a girlfriend who has had at least one highly publicized brush with the law and who is cultivating a bad reputation for drug use.

Many of Jaden’s family and friends have reportedly expressed concerns about his relationship with the 20-year-old model. Jaden Smith’s parents are reportedly “furious” about his relationship with Snyder, but are concerned about alienating the teen, who’s well on his way to be an adult.

Photos and videos of Jaden’s girlfriend Sarah allegedly using drugs have repeatedly surfaced on social media, and they’re pretty damning. In at least one of the videos, Sarah is seen sniffing a white powder with a bill, and someone in the background (believed to be Jaden Smith) can be heard identifying the powder as “cocaine.”

As Day Herald reports, Jaden Smith’s girlfriend has also been photographed puffing on cigarettes (legal for a 20-year-old but not her 17-year-old boyfriend) and even with a mouthful of pills on her tongue. In the photograph of Sarah Snyder with several pills in her mouth, the pills have been identified as probable Xanax, which are notorious for their potential for recreational abuse.

Many of Jaden Smith’s fans aren’t happy with the lifestyle of his current, markedly older girlfriend. Many have taken to social media to vent their frustrations and hope that Jaden’s family will take steps to get the model out of Jaden Smith’s life.

Despite some fan-hating of the controversial relationship, other Jaden Smith fans fully support his love affair with the years-older Snyder.

Regardless of the amount of support he might get from fans, Jaden Smith’s family has come out adamantly against the relationship, according to multiple sources, and part of the problem could be Sarah’s past trouble with the law.

Back in February 2015, Jaden Smith’s latest gal pal was charged with grand larceny related to the accused theft of a $16,000 Hermès purse in New York. Snyder was ultimately acquitted of the theft charges, but according to the Day Herald report, the charges in and of themselves compromised Jaden Smith’s girlfriend’s career. The charges and bad PR reportedly made some big-name companies and brands hesitant to work with Snyder.

Because association can be a career killer in Hollywood, some have worried that an association with Snyder might put a damper on Jaden Smith’s burgeoning success, especially if she continues showing up in social media photos and videos that show or appear to show illicit drug use.

As Us Weekly reports, Jaden’s girlfriend wore a T-shirt featuring her mug shot to at least one of her court appearances in the theft case, something that likely didn’t endear her to her minor boyfriend’s famous parents.

Over Memorial Day weekend, Jaden Smith spent his time with his ex-girlfriend Kylie Jenner, and there was even some speculation that the pair were getting back together. However, that turned out to be nothing more than a rumor; Jaden Smith and Sarah are still reportedly very much an item and Kylie and Jaden are nothing more than good friends.
