‘GTA Online’ ‘Finance And Felony’ DLC Released, ‘GTA 5’ Story DLC Rumored
With the E3 expo beginning this week, fans of Grand Theft Auto 5 are glued to their news feeds, eager for more information on GTA 5 and GTA Online. And it’s no wonder; according to The Express, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors that they would be at E3 “in a big way,” and GTA 5 developer Rockstar has been put on an official Twitter list by E3, alongside other exhibiting developers.
Just a few days ago, Rockstar and Take-Two released the Further Adventures InFinance And Felony pack for the hugely successful GTA Online, a massive DLC update for the online version of GTA 5. And according to Gadget Review, the new pack comes with a grand total of 24 new updates — most prominently an entire new job category and new career path for your character; that of CEO of an illicit company.
The DLC starts when you buy yourself an office from Dynasty8 Properties, and they don’t come cheap; the most basic office in Los Angeles starts at $1,000,000. Because this is an expansion for GTA Online, cheats don’t work, and players will have to invest a fair bit of time and effort to get their first office. Once you have the office, you can personalize it with safes, gun lockers, rest areas and more, turning into a dedicated base for you and your gang, and putting you on the path to forming your own personal company — one that lets you hire your friends, buy warehouses to store your ill-gotten gains, and compete against other player-owned corporations.
An entire new category of commodities, contraband, has been introduced to GTA 5 in Finance and Felony. They’re a set of high-profit commodities that have to be stored in warehouses, which again, have to be purchased, and their prices are constantly fluctuating. Contraband is won through playing missions which scale based on how much you attempt to grab; one box is easy, two is moderately hard, and three is… tough. Meanwhile, the police, or even another local rival gang, will be trying to stop you. You can sell the goods right away or wait for the price to increase, but if you’re storing your contraband, you’ll have to play Defense missions to stop rival gangs that are trying to rob you. Once you’ve decided to sell, you’ll have to go on a Sell mission — and the higher the selling price, the harder that mission will be. But the rewards are definitely worth all of the effort.Among other things, Finance and Felony adds nine new vehicles to GTA 5 Online; aside from a couple of vehicles specifically intended for use in the new missions, it also brings several new luxury cars (the Vapid FMG tops the list at $1,750,000,) a $1,900,000 Nimbus private jet, and a $2,295,000 Volatus helicopter. In other words, vehicles fit for a CEO.
Finally, the CEO gains access to special VIP missions: Headhunter, a special timed assassination mission, Airfreight, in which the player has to steal cargo from a moving convoy with a helicopter, and Haulage, a mission involving delivery of a full trailer of illegal goods.
Finance and Felony aside, rumors of the long-promised storyline DLC for GTA 5 are again on the table, with many predicting that it will be announced at E3 this year. Having sold 65 million copies, it seems like a fairly obvious move, and both Rockstar and Take-Two have hinted that they’re intending to be a major presence at E3; surely that means more than another multiplayer DLC announcement.Or hey, maybe they’re going to announce GTA 6. Something that, oddly, nobody has been speculating about.
So if GTA 6 happens at E3 this year, tell everyone that you heard it here first.
