‘The Vampire Diaries:’ Will Damon Salvatore Die In Season 8? [Spoilers]
The Vampire Diaries Season 8 will premiere on The CW network in fall 2016. Not a lot is known about the upcoming season, but fans are busy speculating on the future of Damon, Enzo, and the other TVD characters. While most viewers are certain that Damon and Enzo can be saved, could Ian Somerhalder’s character die in the Season 8 finale?
Warning: Possible spoilers for The Vampire Diaries are ahead. Read at your own risk.
It was previously reported that both Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham plan on leaving The Vampire Diaries by the end of Season 8. Something will have to happen with their characters, whether they leave, live happily ever after, or even die. Fans hope that there is a positive close to Damon Salvatore’s storyline, but there are no guarantees.
There are a lot of theories about what the creature is in The Vampire Diaries Season 8, as reported by the Inquisitr. Even though executive producer Julie Plec has admitted that the entire story isn’t carved in stone yet, there are some aspects that have been decided. Those include the monster’s origins and a few facts about it. Some of those facts include the creature being thousands of years old, having long, bony fingers and it having some sort of psychic abilities. It was able to know what Elena’s voice sounded like, knew that Damon would go toward Elena’s voice, and it was able to get into the vampire’s head.

It was also revealed in a separate report that there is a chance Damon Salvatore could die in The Vampire Diaries Season 8 finale.
In a recent interview, Candice King spoke about Damon and Enzo’s situation. She revealed that her character, Caroline Forbes, along with Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) would have a difficult time finding Damon and Enzo.
“I think Bonnie, Stefan, and Caroline are going to have their work cut out for them,” Candice King told IGN. “I’m interested to see how Alaric plays into bringing Damon and Enzo back from the dark side.”
This statement makes it sound like Candice King believes that Damon and Enzo can be saved from the creature’s clutches. However, that doesn’t mean the missing vampires are safe from death. With that being said, there is a good chance Damon Salvatore will be just fine and survive.

Even though Ian Somerhalder is leaving The Vampire Diaries, the producers and writers know how much fans love Damon. To kill him off in the Season 8 finale would be risky, even if TVD doesn’t have any additional seasons. It would spark outrage and anger. Besides, viewers would like to see Damon and all the other characters have a happy ending for once.
The synopsis for The Vampire Diaries Season 8 has also been released.
“The triangle of Stefan, Caroline, and Alaric will team up with Bonnie in Season 8 to search for the two most important men in her life,” Melty wrote regarding the next season of TVD, “even though Damon and Enzo may be long past saving.”
What do you think is going to happen with Ian Somerhalder’s character in Season 8? Will Damon Salvatore die in the season finale? Will the main characters be able to stop the menacing creature from affecting any more innocent victims? How many more people will Damon and Enzo kill in The Vampire Diaries? Can Stefan, Caroline, Bonnie and Alaric save their friends before it is too late? Fans will just have to wait to find out the answer to these questions.
The Vampire Diaries Season 8 premieres this fall, although a specific date has not been announced by The CW network.
