Cheryl Gasper and her former lover, Randall Knight, killed Cheryl’s husband, Andie Gasper, in Yorkshire, New York, over 20 years ago. The murder case, which was stated to be a love triangle, will be aired on the next episode of Snapped: She Made Me Do It.
In tonight’s riveting crime series on Oxygen, viewers will follow along as cold case detectives jumpstart the unsolved murder case of a decorated veteran who was fatally stabbed in the heart 16 years earlier. Featured as guests will be police detectives and family and friends of the Andie Gasper.
Dead Body Found In Truck: 1994 Yorkshire, Cattaraugus County, New York
Decorated Air Force veteran Andie K. Gasper was found dead in his pick-up truck in 1994. Police had been called to the scene to investigate a report of suspicious activity behind a closed store at a shopping plaza. When the officer arrived, he found a man inside. At first glance, it appeared that the he was sleeping. But upon closer inspection, the officer could see blood seeping from the man’s chest.
Snapped: She Made Me Do It’s coverage will detail how paramedics were called to assist, but the man was already dead. A plates check determined that the victim was 32-year-old Andie Gasper.
It was an eerie scene. The body was still strapped in the seat belt, and it appeared that whoever had killed him caught the victim by surprise. Police were unable to find a murder weapon, and the man’s keys were missing. Also, a forensics analysis of the vehicle did not lead to any suspects.

New York detectives struck gold after a neighbor reported seeing a car with an Ohio tag parked near Andie Gasper’s home before the murder. The neighbor took down the car tag number and submitted it to police. The tags were traced to Randall Knight of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. It didn’t mean much at first, but investigators later determined that Knight was an old friend of the Gaspers. In fact, they knew each other when Andie and Cheryl Gasper lived on an Air Force base in another state. It was there that Cheryl began having a sexual affair with her friend’s husband, who turned out to be Randall Knight.
Jury Acquits, Murderer Goes Free
In 1994, Randall Knight admitted being in town around the time of the murder but denied killing Andie Gasper. Cheryl Gasper was at a barbecue on the night of the murder, she claimed. By now, police knew that Randall Knight had killed Andie Gasper, and that Randall’s wife, Cheryl, was somehow involved. Randall Knight was eventually arrested. The case went to trial, but the prosecution’s case was weak and mostly circumstantial. The jury acquitted Randall Knight in 1995, according to the Olean Times Herald.

The acquittal stunned the community and Andie Gasper’s family, who believed that Randall Knight had gotten away with murder. Before Andie’s death, his mother had accidentally found a sexually-charged love letter from Randall Knight to Cheryl Gasper. Andie’s mother told her son about it, and the couple separated. At the time of Andie’s death, he was living with his parents again but had returned to his home to do yard work the day he was killed.
From 1995 to 2009, the case stayed cold. But when FBI investigators began interviewing everyone again, the secrets began tumbling out. Cheryl Jenkins Gasper ended up confessing to police that she and Randall had discussed how much better their lives would be if her husband was dead, which would allow them to cash in on the insurance policy and buy a new home. Randall Gasper, who had been living his life as a free man, broke down and cried once police confronted him 16 years later. He seemed to be a man with a heavy heart, one who had lived with the guilt of what he had done.
The new investigation revealed the following, according to Randall Knight.
- Randall and Cheryl were having sex every chance they could, often meeting up at hotels and sending each other love letters back and forth.
- Cheryl Gasper told Randall that Andie was abusing her.
- Cheryl put pressure on Randall to get rid of Andie for good.
- The night before the murder, Cheryl asked Randall to drive From Ohio to Yorkshire, New York, to see about her. However, Cheryl had already planned to have her friend’s husband over for sex. Once Randall arrived in town, he witnessed Cheryl having sex with a man after looking through her bedroom window.
- After seeing the love of his life in bed with another man, he felt angry and desperate. The next day, he spoke with Andie Gasper and told him that they needed to meet up to discuss something important.
- The meeting took place that night behind the shopping center. Randall confronted Andie about physically abusing Cheryl and stabbed him in the chest.
Upon hearing both confessions, police had what they needed to move forward to make an arrest. In the end, Cheryl Gasper received 18 year to life and Randall Knight received 24 years, which was later reduced to 10 years, according to the Buffalo News.
Cheryl Gasper pleaded guilty Tuesday in a murder-for-hire scheme that resulted in the 1994 stabbing death of her husband, Andie Gasper.
