Ryan Serhant Reveals Why He Chose Emilia: How She Changed His Life

Ryan Serhant may be a famous reality star and a real-estate mogul in New York, but he is just a man who is in love when he’s at home with his future wife, Emilia Bechrakis. When fans first met Serhant on Million Dollar Listing New York, he was working every day and didn’t have much of a social life. This was proven when the hurricane hit New York and he had nowhere to go.

But everything changed the following season, as he met Emilia Bechrakis, a lawyer in New York. While fans hadn’t seen him date before, it was interesting to see him fall in love and risking his relationship over real estate.

According to a new Bravo report, Ryan Serhant is now revealing why he decided to change things around in his career to make room for Emilia. As fans saw on Million Dollar Listing New York, Ryan struggled in the beginning with the relationship, as he couldn’t make room for her. While she made the effort to schedule cooking lessons for them as a date night, he couldn’t put his phone down as he kept making deals. Sadly, she left him, but he fought to get her back. Ryan knew she was the one and he wanted her back.

“I think that she really was the only person I ever met where the minute that I would go away from her, I would think about her every single second and everything became second place towards waiting for the next time I got to see her again. Which was a crazy thing for me cause I never felt that before, ever,” Ryan Serhant reveals to the Daily Dish via Bravo, revealing that she sparked something in him that he never felt before.

“And then I’m always somebody who thinks five steps ahead, which gets me in trouble a lot because it’s hard for me to be in the now ’cause I’m always thinking about my life five, 10, 15 years from now and making sure the future Ryan is happy — which in business works really well. But in personal life, it’s important to be present and I just knew from the moment that I saw her that she would be able to make me laugh when I was 90 years old and in a wheelchair and I think that that’s the most important [thing],” Ryan Serhant explains, sharing that she taught him to live in the moment and not always plan so far ahead in his personal life.

Ryan decided to propose to Emilia in Times Square, which made headlines around the world. Ryan worked his contacts to shut down Times Square for about an hour to propose to her. He had planned everything out, and the Million Dollar Listing New York cameras captured it all.

The two are planning to get married in Greece on July 7 of this year, meaning there is less than one month until the wedding. Ryan Serhant has teased that the cameras may be present for the nuptials, but since they have wrapped filming, it would be a special occasion for them.

As for children, these two have no set plans to have kids. Ryan works very hard, and he is constantly on the move. But Emilia has a great career as a lawyer and is probably just as busy as he is. But it is something they have talked about.

“I don’t know, we’ll see kind of what happens,” Serhant has revealed about starting a family, adding, “We’re both very busy, so we both definitely want to start a family but we’ll see how life takes us. We got to live through this wedding first — oh my gosh! It’s not a little one, that’s for sure.”
