WWE Rumors: Triple H Teases Big ‘NXT Takeover: Brooklyn’ Match
WWE superstar Triple H knows that the best way to get people talking about something is to tease them on social media. The head of NXT might have just done that by teasing what might be the biggest match at the upcoming NXT Takeover: Brooklyn event, which takes place during SummerSlam weekend this year.
Wrestling Inc. reported that Triple H went to Twitter and posted a photo of him watching two specific stars shaking hands on the monitors. Those two stars were Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura, and Triple H added the comment “No sleep ’til Brooklyn… #WeAreNXT.” That almost surely points to NXT Takeover: Brooklyn and could be the biggest match on that card.

Triple H doesn’t do things like this without thinking about it. There are a lot of ways that this photo could be taken, but the idea of Finn Balor taking on Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn is too exciting not to think about. This would have to mean that the NXT title will be the focus of someone different by the time that NXT Takeover: Brooklyn rolls around in August.
The origins for this possible NXT Takeover: Brooklyn match happened at the NXT TV tapings on Thursday at Full Sail University. Finn Balor was in the ring and asked what was next for him after losing to Samoa Joe in the steel cage match. That is when Shinsuke Nakamura came out and said that Balor wants some and he wants some. Nakamura then said that if he wants to be the champion, he has to beat Balor. Balor agreed to the match.
Shinsuke Nakamura made his debut at NXT Takeover: Dallas when he fought Sami Zayn, someone who made his move to the main roster two nights later at WrestleMania 32. There have been strong rumblings that Finn Balor is ready to make his move to the main roster as well. Could this be his swan song in NXT, and could he be leaving the same way that Sami Zayn left, by battling the best wrestlers in the entire promotion in Nakamura at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn?
At NXT Takeover: The End this week, Shinsuke Nakamura took on Austin Aries, someone else who made his debut in Dallas. Nakamura beat Aries in a great match, and some wondered if Samoa Joe and an NXT title match could be coming next, possibly at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn. A great way to play into this is to have Nakamura feud with Balor, who could be on his way to possibly join up with The Club on the main roster, either with AJ Styles or against him.
A win by Nakamura at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn would keep the Japanese superstar undefeated and lead to him sliding into the next contender spot against Samoa Joe. However, this would also mean that Samoa Joe might need a new opponent until then. With Bobby Roode showing up at NXT Takeover: The End once again, could Joe be getting his old TNA Impact Wrestling rival in a feud to lead into NXT Takeover: Brooklyn?
With Shinsuke Nakamura beating Sami Zayn in NXT Takeover: Dallas and Austin Aries at NXT Takeover: The End, a match with Finn Balor at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn could make Nakamura the MVP of NXT Wrestling, fighting three marquee fan dream matches in a row at the biggest events for the NXT brand. This could help set up Nakamura as the face of NXT Wrestling and the man to replace Finn Balor when he leaves.

Of course, this is also based on Nakamura staying in NXT. With the WWE draft coming up and the brand split on the way, Cage Side Seats reported that the speculation is the WWE main rosters will raid NXT of its main talent and that draft happens a month before NXT Takeover: Brooklyn.
The idea is that Finn Balor lost his feud with Samoa Joe and American Alpha lost their tag team titles after just three months so that they can make the move to either WWE Monday Night Raw or WWE SmackDown. Other wrestlers expected to move up in the WWE include Bayley, and many fans thought Shinsuke Nakamura would do so as well.
The entire promo between Shinsuke Nakamura and Finn Balor set up the match, but there was no word on when it would end up being. The best bet is that this won’t happen on a regular NXT broadcast, which means that this should be one of the main events of NXT Takeover: Brooklyn and should be one of the best matches of 2016 in the WWE.
