‘Flip or Flop’ Kicks Off A New Season Of Home Renovation And Design

Tarek and Christina El Moussa posted on June 8 to their Facebook page a photo of Christina and their son Brayden, along with a caption that says, “Favorite season yet because this guy will be making an appearance.” Fans of the show will get to share in the joy of watching during the fifth season of Flip or Flop as Christina and Tarek add a new member to the family, making Taylor a big sister.

According to Pop Sugar, Brayden James was born on August 20, 2015, the day before Tarek’s birthday. He weighed in at an impressive 8 pounds, 9 ounces. Since he’s been born, Christina has remarked on Facebook that he’s a very happy baby. Having a baby hasn’t slowed this couple down, however, besides caring for their two adorable children and flipping homes, they are also in the process of writing a book titled Flip Your Life.

The new book is sure to be a best-seller among Flip or Flop fans, and is scheduled to be released sometime in the spring of 2017. The book will provide a lot of information on how the El Moussa’s met, how they got started, where they are now, and everything in between. They even asked their fans what are some of the things they would like to know about them, or what types of chapters would fans love to see in the book.

So far, there has been plenty of responses, ranging from how do they balance everything, to do they have any advice for novice flippers. Some would like more information on how to update the style or paint colors in their homes. One fan asked for a chapter that goes into more detail about Tarek’s battle with cancer and his fight to regain his health.

To recap, back in 2013 a viewer who also happens to be a registered nurse, noticed something disturbing during a Flip or Flop marathon. There seemed to be a lump on Tarek’s neck in the thyroid area, and she fired off an email to the show’s production company that said, “This is not a joke. I’m a registered nurse. I’ve been watching ‘Flip or Flop.’ I noticed that the host Tarek has a large nodule on his thyroid, and he needs to have it checked out.”

Fortunately, the email was taken very seriously and Zap2It shared that it prompted El Moussa to get a biopsy of the lump, which he had been previously informed was benign. Results revealed that the Flip or Flop star had thyroid cancer, which had spread to his lymph nodes. Back in November of 2015, the couple shared that Tarek was now in remission and other than a few lingering effects from thyroid radioactive iodine therapy treatment, Tarek has made a full recovery.

With the cancer scare behind them, it seems as though nothing can stop this Flip or Flop duo now. There are a lot of firsts coming up this year, besides new flips (including a special summer episode airing in August) and writing a new book, Brayden will be celebrating his first birthday. For the new season of Flip or Flop, the first episode is titled “Down to the Studs,” and Tarek and Christina will undoubtedly work their magic, transforming another home in severe disrepair into something completely renovated and beautifully designed.

TV Series Finale noted that for the previous season, Flip or Flop delivered its highest ratings ever. More than 16 million viewers tuned in to watch Flip or Flop during the fourth season, and ratings grew 26 percent over the third season, making it the top-rated cable program for the Thursday evening, 9:30 p.m. time slot.
