U.S Teaser Trailer Starring Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley: ‘The Mad Ones’
Just in time for its North American debut at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival, the first U.S teaser trailer of Walter Salles, much anticipated On The Road has arrived.
Big on mood, jazz and including the iconic lines:
“The only people that interest me are the mad ones. The ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, desirous of everything at the same time.”
“The ones that never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like roman candles across the night.”
The teaser is intended to whet the appetite of audiences for more — and it does.
Starring Kristen Stewart, Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Tom Sturridge to name a few (it’s a big cast), this big screen Jose Rivera scripted adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s 1957 (published) classic, beat novel is a long awaited one.
A longer version of the film played at the Cannes Film Festival in May to mixed reviews. Since then, director Salles has cut about 15 minutes off the film and rejigged the film to focus more on Garrett Hedlund’s and Sam Riley’s relationship.
Nutshelled: On The Road, is a semi-autobiographical, road odyssey with three core characters at its heart. Writer, Sal Paradise (Riley’s role, an alter-ego of Jack Kerouac), Dean Moriarty (Hedlund) and Marylou (Stewart).
Bound by a desire for freedom and a search for experience itself, this trio travel across 1950’s America and, of course, meet various weird and wonderful characters along the way.
Tickets for this at TIFF were snapped up very quickly and, inevitably, there’ll be plenty of flash going off on September 6 when the stars of the film walk the red carpet. But until then, you can watch the teaser trailer below.
On The Road hits U.S theaters on December 21.
