Find Out Why Actress Helen Mirren Is Singing Kim Kardashian’s Praises

Helen Mirren may not be a Keeping up with the Kardashians fanatic, but she sure does have some good things to say about Mrs. Kim Kardashian West.

During a recent interview with The Telegraph, the 70-year-old actress spoke about Kim and how she praises her for helping change the beauty standards to which women adhere to today. Helen described Kardashian as a “shameless woman” who has become a role model for women both young and old with her curvy physique.

“I’m not into the Kardashians, it’s a phenomenon I just don’t find interesting, but – and this is the big word: B-U-T-T – it’s wonderful that you’re allowed to have a butt nowadays!” Mirren told the magazine. “Thanks to Madame Kardashian, and before her, J.Lo. We’re also allowed to have thighs now, which is great too. It’s very positive.”

Mirren continued, “When I was growing up, it was thought to be unbelievably sluttish to even have a bra strap showing. Everything was about women conforming. I love shameless women. Shameless and proud!”

As for Mirren’s own beauty regime… she says she doesn’t have one. When it comes to beauty standards, she admits she is definitely a rule breaker- she drinks wine, eats french fries, and forgets her vitamins. Basically, Helen is just like everyone else and says life is too short to constantly worry yourself over your looks.

“I have absolutely no beauty regime,” Helen said. “I sunbathe – I know I shouldn’t but I love sitting in the sun. I drink wine and occasionally I’ll drink to excess. I eat French fries. I’ve never managed to go to the gym for longer than two months. I always forget to take my vitamins.”

“I’ve done everything but I haven’t done too much of anything – I’ve never had a Coca-Cola, ever,” she continued. “Sometimes I use hotel body lotion as conditioner for my hair. I’m not particular. Life is too short and too precious.”

Mirren has been a spokesperson for L’Oréal Paris since 2014, and says she only has one request from the company- never retouch her images. Mirren says she knows she is aging and is proud to show her age in her pictures.

“For me, one of the best things about getting older is finally being relieved of the whole sex-symbol tag,” she said. “There is good and bad in aging. Each age you become reveals a new person you’ve become. I loved being young but I’ve enjoyed every stage in different ways.”

Helen added, “I’m happy being in my 70s and there will be another person in me at 80, hopefully, and I can’t wait to meet her. I’m just incredibly grateful to be here and incredibly grateful for my health. When I do anything it’s always to do with health, not beauty.”
