Richard Simmons Hospitalized For Reported ‘Bizarre’ Behavior

Richard Simmons has been hospitalized for bizarre behavior, according to US Magazine. The fitness guru was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after fire department paramedics were summoned to his home.

Medical personnel decided it was in Simmons’ best interest to be admitted to the hospital for a complete evaluation. As of yet, the details of his “bizarre” behavior have not been released.

It hasn’t been that long since the 67-year-old was in the news. At that time, several of his close friends were concerned that Simmons was being held, against his will, in his Hollywood Hills home.

His longtime housekeeper, Teresa Reveles, was the person accused of keeping Simmons captive. Charges were never brought against her and she adamantly denied doing any such thing.

Shortly after Richard’s friends expressed their concern, he materialized and assured his fans he was fine and was free to go wherever he pleased. In a brief statement, he had this to say about the situation.

“No one is holding me in my house as a hostage. You know, I do what I want to do as I’ve always done, so people should sort of just believe what I have to say because, like, I’m Richard Simmons!”

At the same time, he also indicated that accusations centering around the incorrect fact he was a hostage were “very hurtful.” Simmons explained to Entertainment Tonight that he just wanted to live his life. He went on to tell reporter Brad Bessey that in the event he ever found himself in trouble, he would certainly reach out for help.

To further explain his whereabouts, for the past two years, Richard made this statement.

“The people that surround me are wonderful people who take great care of me. For the last 40 years I have been traveling, teaching classes, and I had a knee injury, so I had a knee replacement, which was very difficult for me. I have really just been taking it easy, staying at home.

Richard Simmons made his last public appearance in December 2013. He attended SPARKLE: An All-Star Holiday Concert in Los Angeles.

At this point, no one knows if Richard Simmons is still a patient at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center. Sources close to the Sweatin’ to the Oldies creator will neither confirm or deny the information.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Richard’s Simmons’ concerned friend, Mauro Oliveira, contacted the NY Daily News in March 2016. Oliveira informed the publication that Richard called him to his Hollywood Hills home, in order to share some bad news with him. The news was this. They could no longer be friends. Oliveira also relayed the fact that Teresa Reveles was thought to be involved in black magic.

Last year, after police were called to Simmons’ home for a welfare check, the fitness guru told TMZ he simply didn’t want to be famous anymore. The officers who visited the home indicated that Richard was “lucid and relaxed.” Around the same time, a representative for Simmons stated that Richard was still committed to helping obese individuals, but preferred to work “behind the scenes” particularly on charity projects.

Richard Simmons became a household name in the 70s. He owes his notoriety to his Beverly Hills gym called Slimmons. Even after all these years, his biggest fans miss his vitality and eccentric energy. He has a unique presence, all his own.
