Nicole Brown Simpson Update: Sister Denise Brown To Develop True Crime Series
Denise Brown, the sister of O.J. Simpson’s former wife, the late Nicole Brown Simpson, is in the process of developing a new true crime series that will question the legal system, detailing whether justice was carried out in different cases.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Brown signed a deal with NBC’s Peacock Productions to create a true crime series that centers around cases in which justice wasn’t served or “where justice has been called into question.” The series, currently untitled, will feature Brown working with a team of crime experts.
Melody Shafir, vice president of development for Peacock Productions, said that Brown’s experience in the O.J. Simpson trial, which included testifying for her sister, gave her the experience to understand how complex the legal world is.

“Denise has experienced first-hand the complexities of the criminal justice system. She testified on behalf of her sister during one of the most high-profile murder trials in recent history and will draw on that experience throughout the series, with a deep understanding of the impact the system can have on the victim’s family.”
While on the stand in 1995, Brown testified that her former brother-in-law, Simpson, called Nicole Simpson a “fat pig” when she was pregnant and that her sister was so distraught in her marriage to the former NFL football player that she didn’t care what he called her as long as he left.
“At one point, she didn’t care how much weight she gained, she just wanted him to leave her.”
Brown also stated that O.J. Simpson had a “very bizarre look in his eyes” days before Nicole Simpson was found stabbed to death in 1994 in her Brentwood home in Los Angeles. Nicole’s friend Ron Goldman was also found stabbed to death. The emotional testimony lasted two days as Brown gave personal insight into her sister’s marriage to O.J. Simpson.
After her sister’s death, Brown committed herself to raising public awareness on domestic violence issues. As founder of the Elite Speakers Bureau, an organization dedicated to abuse, mental health, work safety, and more, she’s traveled the nation speaking on issues she holds dear to her heart. She’s also helped legislation increase funding for the Violence against Women Act of 1994 (VAWA) and assisted in helping the Vine System become successful. Also known as VineLink, the Vine System automatically notifies victims of abuse when someone from jail or prison is released.
Brown is currently the co-founder and president of the Nicole Brown Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps with the fight against domestic abuse. The organization was created in honor of Nicole Brown Simpson.
Meanwhile, Brown indicated that she’s excited to work on the new project, where she’ll bring her own experience to the production to help tell the stories of others who went through similar situations.
“I am excited to begin working with Peacock and tell the stories of the lives that have forever been changed by the criminal justice system.”
So far, an air date for the new show hasn’t been announced. No one has been charged in the death of Nicole Brown Simpson, although her former husband, O.J. Simpson, who was found not guilty of the crime, remains the primary suspect in many people’s minds across the world. O.J. Simpson remains in prison on other charges stemming from a 2007 robbery in a Las Vegas hotel room.
