‘The Walking Dead’: Take A Tour To Get More TWD Thrills And Chills

The Walking Dead franchise might be a high rotation rerun for fans this summer, but a series of Atlanta-area tours are giving TWD followers new zombie tracking adventures of their own.

Want to hunt down the places where Walkers have shambled for the camera? The biggest catch is you have to make your way to Georgia. Once you get there, you’ll find your options include guided tours in Grantville, Senoia, and Haralson, and Metro Atlanta. Guided tours vary based on location and programming. Some are sedate walk-and-talk treks, while other tours offer everything from zombies of their own, to opportunities to act out your favorite scenes from The Walking Dead.

Grantville Dead Walking Tour – This highly-rated tour takes guests to the locations used for the “Clear” episode. The price for the main tour is $20. There is an additional tour of Morgan’s apartment for an additional $10, and a shop selling TWD curios called “Z Is For Zombie” nearby. Visitors have noted the guides are friendly and knowledgeable. Some have rated this small, but mighty attraction as the friendliest of the Atlanta-area The Walking Dead tours. They don’t have their own website at this time, but they do have a Facebook page where they interact with guests and answer questions.

The Touring Dead – This tour takes guests to TWD locations in Alexandria and Senoia, the town that served as Woodbury in the AMC series. This tour is operated by an event and tour outfit called The Georgia Mercantile Company. While the main focus of this tour is showing on-camera landmarks and behind the scenes locations used for The Walking Dead, they include sites used for other movies and TV shows such as Pet Sematary Two, Drop Dead Diva, and Fried Green Tomatoes. Visitors gave this tour a thumbs up for the price point ($25), noting it’s a great value in terms of the breadth of the material covered and comfort.

Big Zombie Tour – Want to get the scoop on what it’s like to be a part of The Walking Dead? The guides on Atlanta Movie Tours’ Big Zombie Tours are actors who have worked as extras on the series. They’re also big fans of the series and happy to talk TWD with fans during the three-hour tours of the walking in the tracks of the Walkers. There are three tours to choose from, and some fans note it’s worth the time and money to make a day of it with the Big Zombie guides. The price point is a bit higher at $65 per person, but visitors — fans and the people who love them — give this tour thumbs up for big fun.
