Nick Jonas’ Dating Fails: What You Could Learn From The Heartthrob
Even a heartthrob like Nick Jonas, who’s loved by men and women, goes through some dating blunders at times. The singer has been candid about his dating life, especially what hasn’t worked for him.
I’m very single y’all. That is all.
— Nick Jonas (@nickjonas) May 27, 2016
Nick Jonas opened up about how he tries to score a date. He admitted that he would use Instagram and Twitter to try to hit up women.
When asked if he messages the women he finds attractive, he told the The Sunday Times that “It’s so true. I’m shameless about it.”
The problem? Nick doesn’t get any responses back. It’s probably because these women don’t really believe that it’s the real Nick Jonas that’s messaging them. They probably think it’s some sort of catfish. Nick told the British newspaper that every time he asks these attractive women out, he always gets a no.
“A lot of no responses, actually. I imagine an attractive girl gets direct messages all the time, so it’s kind of played out.”
The former JoBro also admitted that he has a crush on Rihanna. In fact, he still has his sights set on her. Jonas, 23, revealed that he tried to flirt with Rihanna, 28, which led to another dating fail. During the same interview with the Sun’s Bizarre column, Jonas talked about why he failed at flirting with Rihanna.
“I flirted with Rihanna once. It didn’t work — but it didn’t not work. It didn’t go anywhere but it was a great conversation. It laid a good foundation.”
He still has hope, though. The reason why Rihanna wasn’t interested in Nick at the time is because she’s rumored to be dating rapper and frequent collaborator Drake. Even Nick is aware of Rihanna’s busy and confusing love life.
“[Drake and Rihanna] are supposed to be dating or in love, apparently,” the “Levels” singer jokingly said.
Although the hot crooner failed to score a date with Rihanna, he did catch a whiff of the beauty. Jonas said that the most intoxicating thing about the “Work” singer was her sultry scent.
“She smells amazing, that is one thing I can tell you. Everyone says it, but I have actually smelt her now and it’s amazing.”
That’s no surprise since RiRi has the following fragrances under her belt, including 777 Nude by Rihanna Diamonds, Reb’l Fleur, Nude, Rogue, Rebelle, Rogue Love, and Rogue Man.
Despite his dating fails, Nick seems pretty content these days. He confirmed that he’s been dating Lily Collins, the daughter of music legend Phil Collins. He said that the two have been good friends for years, but just started going on a few dates in recent months.
“We have known each other for years, just running in the same circles. I’ve enjoyed meeting different people and spending time with people with all the cards on the table. All people need human interaction at some level. And at my age too, dating is important, getting to know yourself by meeting different people, seeing what it’s all about.”
Jonas has also been linked to actress Kate Hudson since last September. They were last seen having dinner in Los Angeles back in February, and again earlier this month before the Met Gala in New York. While Jonas didn’t confirm the dating rumors, he had nothing but kind things to see about the blonde bombshell.
“She has a beautiful spirit. She is lovely. It has been a year of truly being single but meeting great people and being respectful of them.”
Since the interview, Nick has been slammed for his racially insensitive casting call for an upcoming video that’s expected to air during his tour this summer. The casting call was first posted on ActorsAccess.com and asked for “stunning female models” that look like “the kind of girls Nick Jonas would have a crush on,” meaning those that look like Emily Ratajkowski or have “an ethnic flare, like Indian or South American.” The models should also be “super sexy, sensual, and GORGEOUS in a classic way and still a touch relatable.”
Audrey Alford, the artistic director of Ivy Theatre Company, spotted the casting call and posted on Twitter, calling out Nick Jonas and the casting director, Amy Gossels, for crushing any woman of color’s hopes of ever being considered crushable to Nick Jonas.

The casting call has since been removed from the site. It’s unclear if Jonas was involved with the creation and development of this ad. He has yet to respond to this latest controversy. While it’s not exactly a dating fail, it’s certainly a major advertising fail on their part.
